I finally watched it. I'd managed to avoid it for however long but I discovered I don't care. Have you seen these people who get really angry? It's stupid! I listened to it because I fucking wanted to. It's SUPPOSED TO BE STUPID. LIGHTEN THE FUCK UP.
Look, if you're sick of "Gangnam Style," then I'm not going to be hurt if you can't/won't watch this video featuring the G1 Transformers busting a PSY-style groove. But I had to post it for two reasons: 1) it was made by NG Smoov, whose CG Transformers animations have been delighting me for years, and 2) even though I know it was coming, seeing an elevator door open to show Megatron straddle-dancing above a winsome Shockwave was still totally worth it. Thanks to everyone who sent in the tip.
More links from around the web!
Damn, the Autobots beat my legion of Cobra troopers to the gangnam style parody.
Eh, in my opinion, nothing will top the one with gundam heads added in (yes it was predictable but I still find it amusing to this day)
@Kirtro well that one is the tops. Everytime someone posts about Gangnam Style on the fb, I tell them to check the gundam style one..
Arcee screaming at Hot Rod's ass is hilarious, as it the aforementioned lift/Space Bridge scene.
I'm not even clicking play. I just came here to say "fuck you, Rob."
Stop it. STOP IT. STOP IT!!
I'm just saying that between these and the "Call me Maybe" videos, if we ever meet I am punching you in the face, Rob.
I'll buy you a beer after but yea, face punch.
Came in to read comments by that Nix dude who hates pop culture, nerd parodies, parodies in general, fame-grabs, and many other things.
Left disappointed.
I don't hate pop culture (not the intelligent parts of it, anyway) or parodies.
I hate seeing people with a total lack of originality or creativity being rewarded for it, when there are so many people (nerds and non-nerds alike) who have original, awesome ideas that don't get noticed because everyone's too busy watching another crappy "nerd parody" which is probably something like "Halo Style" or the Star Wars characters singing Rebecca Black's "Friday".
Parodies are awesome if they're not predictable, by-the-numbers tripe. I'd much rather watch "Return of the Killer Tomatoes" than another fucking "____ Style" video.
Is it strange that I'm bothered by the fact that they used the exact same car model for Sideswipe and Sunstreaker?
There's precedent: http://www.flickr.com/photos/66538405@N02/6057574896/
I have seen the Transformer one. I have seen the Big Trouble in Little China "Best so Far". I have seen The Hitler one. There just needs to be a Top 10 now of the best PSY-Gungnam Parodies.
I don't want to spoil the end, but it gets better after Megatron/Shockwave.
I didn't think much of the Turtles one, but the Klingon, Lo Pan, and this were all pure win. So long as they're still clever and entertaining, I'm all for them.
Definitely lost it when those elevator doors opened and Megatron's pelvic thrust was unleashed in all its glory.
I've seen so many MMD videos (which I don't think this is one) involving Transformers (and just about everything else, the Grunt from Amnesia is a lovely dancer) this video seems perfectly mundane to me.
That was well done. I'll admit it. Megatron stole the show from his first seconds dancing on Starscream.
@elliotte21 Out for months and already blocked for copyrights claim... That indeed was the best Gangnam parody. It was even posted here on TR
@Lithroe @elliotte21 It's that life you have. You know, going outside, reading books, seeing the sun, getting up to go to the bathroom.....Now if you would just get rid of it like I have you would be able to stay on top of this stuff.
this song still makes me happy. Can't explain it beyond that, but I have somehow avoided the jaded bitterness that accompanies long-running internet memes with this song. It's just a lot of fun, and I enjoy it.There's probably something very, very wrong with me.
@Lithroe @rabidronnie I enjoy symmetrical, rhythmic music. Yeah it's a bit repetitive but I agree that it is simply a fun little tune.
@Gallen_Dugall @Lithroe @rabidronnie yeah i still enjoy it. I also don't have the radio so...if I get sick of it, purely my fault.
I'm apparently only at 30+ plays...so not that bad!!
@Gallen_Dugall @Lithroe @rabidronnie
So was "Hollaback Girl" but you won't catch me listening to it of my own free will.
