I liked Prometheus, yeah it wasn't a masterpiece, but it was enjoyable at least for me. Plus I really like Noomi Rapace so that helped a ton, also I am a Michael Fassbender fan that also helped me enjoy the movie.
I have to give bonus points to whoever thought up the tagline for the Prometheus DVD/Blu-ray release, which hits next week: "Questions will be answered." It's the perfect way to indicate the movie made no sense while providing plausible deniability that you're acknowledging that the movie made no sense. "No, Prometheus answers all your questions about Alien! But if you just happened to find Prometheus a confusing mess, well, I would imagine the DVD/Blu-ray release will answer your questions in that regard. But I totally only meant it the first way. Oh, and that thing I said earlier about Prometheus answering all your questions about Alien? By all I mean some, and by some I mean still have no fucking clue why Prometheus sets up 90% of Alien but not all of it."

Any amount of money to punch Ridley Scott in the face for this abomination. Any. Amount. Of. Money.
For the love of god...
I love the shit out of this site, but will you please let go of your issue with Prometheus already? I get it. You didn't like the movie. There were plot holes that you couldn't get past to enjoy the film. You summed all that up the first time you bitched about it. It was cool and completely understandable then, but now (...4 months and nearly 10 posts later) I have to ask, did this movie do something to you? Did it not call back after an amazing date? Did it pick on you in high school? I only ask because since I've started reading this site on a daily basis, MANY, MANY, MANY far shittier movies have come and gone without this much scrutiny. Honestly, I'm in your camp. I had several issues with the film as well. There are huge plot holes and Mr Elba should be ashamed of his lousy southern accent...but I'm not still bitching about it. I guess my point is neither should you. You and your site are better than that.
@SL4L you sir, are obviously not familiar with nerd rage. This is not a force that can be tempered by any passage of time. Its blade will not dull even when the object of its hate has since passed on into obscurity. The nerd rage is in itself a force of nature, a tempest whose very force makes every pantheon of gods shiver in its wake. It is a force one does not simply, "let go of."
"You and your site are better than that."
this is the same blogger and blog which gave us the glory of videl's abortion fetish, forces its commentors to use the kiddie version of a message board system and regularly steps into the bunker to relieve the pent up tron tension. no, SL4L, TR is not better than that.
Now now, my good Doctor, you can't hold the LyvyFyry thing against Rob. VVM forced that on him and every other outlet they own. Valid statements otherwise, but the comment system shouldn't be crammed in.
People who complain so much of extra stuff on this apparantly don't know Ridley Scott. The man has put out five versions of "Blade Runner," a director's cut of "Kingdom of Heaven" that's an hour longer (and better) than the theatrical version and does "making of" documentaries that are longer than the actual movies. Personally, love how he does so much, uses the format well and a key reason why DVD/Blu-Ray is still needed over downloads of movies.
Why couldn't you just download the longer versions of the movies or the documentaries also? Discs are still a medium that you can scratch easily and have to leave the house (or wait for them to arrive) to buy.
@giantjapanesemonster @swerj321 I have bought second hand PS3 games that look like they have been bitted by a dog, and still play normally.
@giantjapanesemonster @swerj321 They never officially offer the documentaries for download. If it was a package deal, buy the movie get the docs, then I'd agree. Until then, the discs are the only places to get the docs legally.
"I mean still have no fucking clue why Prometheus sets up 90% of Alien but not all of it." Maybe because it's NOT a freakin prequel to Alien. Also, it doesn't set up 90% of Alien at all. They just showed a proto-alien at the end. Big whoop. I guess Alien is totally explained now.
@radb But weren't chest bursters and xenomorphs already around even before prometheus?
This brings back some of the excitement I felt seeing the original trailers, while adding in a mixture of confusion and mild disappointment that I felt seeing the actual movie.
@Spacegrass @vangald See, to me this movie absolutely SCREAMS for a Ridley Scott Director's Cut. Just as Kingdom of Heaven did.
@Lithroe @vangald It was alright. It was far from the worst film I've ever seen. I think a lot of anger stems from the "It's a prequel!" "It's not a prequel!" "It's a prequel again!" nonsense/split personality that pre-empted it's release. My partner has never seen any of the Alien films and liked this a lot. granted, I've no real idea what he got out of it if not the fun of playing "spot the connection" but whatever.
People expected better of Ridley Scott, the director of Blade Runner and Alien, than what Prometheus was...a mess of rehashed ideas and genre tropes that never feels like a complete movie.
<movie_voice>All your questions will be answered and new questions will be left instead. Like, why did I buy this stupid thing? Who thought it was a good idea for a medical machine to keep it's patient awake? What online university did these science idiots graduate from? Do they really expect us to believe that explanation? Plus many more.</movie_voice>
@Someguy don't forget the "how did the two scientists who showed they had a map of the area and left well ahead of the rest of the team somehow get lost" its almost like they wrote that scene of them in the chamber ahead of time and just didn't bother coming up with a reason for them to be there
i feel like everything lindleoff writes are just random scenes that he leaves other writers to come up with a reason for characters to do something to get there no matter how out of character or dumb it is which would explain why the characters never mention what happen to them that way its all self contained and so any character can be inserted into the scenes
how does he still get work
