Look, I know it's over. It's beyond over. But the genuises behind the amazing "Batman, Maybe" parody have done a Big Trouble in Little China "Gangnam Style" music video parody, and not only is it brilliantly written and directed, it even has the original Lo Pan, David Hong, in it. Little to the sounds off if you must (although you'll miss some exceedingly clever lyrics) but if you like BTiLC, you have to watch it. And if you don't like BTiLC, I pity you. Now if you;'ll excuse me, I need to ponder the deep, deep questions seeing an attractive girl in the approximation of a "Sexy Jack Burton" has raised in me. (Via io9)

Rob, "Big Trouble in Little China" doesn't need this AT ALL. If any more attention, like this video, comes up, and some coked up movie producer sees this while on a powder-binge, don't you think that an idea would come to him that maybe its about time to UPDATE (ruin) A CLASSIC?
The less attention we give fads that use classic movies to push themselves onto the public, the less likely someone is going to get a bad idea to update it.
I think the lowest form of entertainment is when you take a popular song/show/fad/movie and mix it with a nerd property. Having Gollum sing a Lady Gaga song is not clever. Having Mario & Luigi playing the main characters in The Godfather isn't anything I can respect.
I dig Hong. He rocks, but I hope he got paid because this is the lowest common denominator when it comes to creativity, originality, and entertainment. I also give them credit for good costuming... But that's it. The rest is just a cheap, stupid, exploitation of something that should have been discouraged and shunned in the first place.
And if you are entertained by this, then you put me one step closer to understanding why American Idol and Honey Boo Boo are so popular, and I weep for the state of creativity in this world.

@nix.nightbird Perhaps a nerd site isn't for you. This is entertaining purely because of the nerd property it is based on. That it is a parody of the hottest thing around right now is not quite as important.

I admit I have no idea what gangnam means. When I see it in the title of a Topless Robot post, I don't click on it, out of pure instinct. I clicked on this one, didn't understand it really, didn't watch it all, still don't know what gangnam means.

@simon260681 @OneMinuteGalactica 531 million views and growing. He posted this music video on Youtube and was presenting on the MTV awards just 5 weeks later, all the talk shows, and signed with an American label.

@nix.nightbird @simon260681 @OneMinuteGalactica Well ummm. First, he might be an overnight sensation here but he is quite successful in Korea, so no, not 15 minutes.
Second, he seems like a really nice guy, not cocky at all (like he has to be in that video). Saw him on talk shows and also the making of that video and he is soft spoken, humble.
Third, the success might be mostly visible in the USA but he rocketed to fame world wide when the video was uploaded to youtube.
