Actually this is not a trailer. This was the ending video for the original FFXIV. It was released when the servers were shut down. Players were told of a battlefield to join, and then this video was given at the end of the battle.
So is this an epic of epic epicness or Square Enix trying way too hard to overcompensate for no longer generating MMO excitement like it used to? I leave that up to you guys to figure out while I go play Maniac Mansion again. You have until the game's tentative release date of December 13, 2013 to come to a decision.
More links from around the web!
this just shows the thing is not totaly done and run into the ground yet loved the dragon plus swore i saw a omega weapon with wings in that video or some similar beast
I just want to know why they're using the FF VI Magitek Armor in that video. That does not belong there! Please keep the good FF games out of the (probably) bad modern ones!
@Wataa I guess it'll probably kill you to hear that they're going to be available as player mounts, in that case.
You're welcome. :)
Well, since everything changes for each newly numbered game, there's always the *chance* that it could be magic again.
That said, the official description is already enough to make my eyes glaze over and my brain long for the loving embrace of an icepick, so maybe they've finally been able to negatively condition that absurd hope right out of me.
I have to ask, mostly because the most I've come to enjoying Final Fantasy was the movie, but hasn't all the good will for this series been spent?
@Lithroe Son this is the age of tomorrow. When you spent all your last dime you run on credit and dodge the collectors. Everyone does it. Hell governments do it. You know your doing it right when you claim bankruptcy. Then you do it again!
The wonders never cease.
@Lithroe Nah, there's still some life left in the ol' strumpet. Of course, that depends on whether they stop stop sticking their heads in active microwaves and give people what they really want...
...which is, unfortunately, the remake of Final Fantasy VII. Which they will never, ever make, due to their fear of guarrenteed fiscal success.
Nope. Sorry. Square Enix has its head so far up its own ass it's its own Human Centipede.
I probably won't play this, unless I see some very good reviews from trustworthy sources. However I think it's great that they were willing to admit their mistakes and spend the next two years finishing the game, whereas most business people would've blamed anyone but themselves.
@Spacegrass Yeah, the work they put into it has been stellar. They pushed the engine to its limits at this point, and there's no way it can continue in its current state, it can only shamble. After going through all the very good story missions this video really struck a powerful chord with all the players. To be honest, this has been the most compelling Final Fantasy I've played since 9. The writers have really put a whole lot of work into the game storyline, lore and even individual character dialogue, it's really impressive. There is no comparison but I guarantee that writing wise, this game just steamrolls 13 it honestly has been its strongest point since day one. The battle system used to suck balls (it's still a bit clunky), the crafting system was atrocious (they fixed it so its waaaay better) and the graphics engine chugs like a dying pickup truck, but the story is what kept me playing in the end. Now, the gameplays NOT going to suck and it'll be more fun to play. I know people are still bitter about the whole experience, but they've really stepped up their game since 2 years ago.
