It looks like Sony's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is coming together faster than expected as sources tell Variety the studio is in early talks with Jamie Foxx to play the villain in the movie. Though the studio would not comment on the character sources have also told Variety that Foxx would play Electro in the pic.

I thought they'd never get to Electro. The way I see it, The Scorpion and Rhino had more of a chance/deserved to get in first. I thought they'd get the Green Goblin again before it went that way.
As for the Black Guy/Electricity thing, It's different, because it's an EVIL black guy with electric powers. I can't recall one of those offhand. Or am I wrong in this?
I highly doubt Donald Glover really gives a damn what's going on, I think Jamie Foxx is a really versatile actor, (seriously if you haven't seen Collateral or The Kingdom you're really missing out) other than the "black guy with electric powers" I think it'll be fine and I know he'll be able to pull it off

I think everyone's missing the point here: who the fuck cares about Electro? Jamie Foxx can find a better role, the movie can find a better villain.

@Spacetree Why one villain? I know people hate the team-ups, but to endure over 2 hours of Spider-Man vs one guy...doesn't cut. Even if the baddies never meet or team up or whatever...give us a little more. Remember in the awful Van Helsing, he starts out fighting Mr. Hyde or something...and defeats him....then the movie goes onto the main story. Why can't Spidey start out Spider-Man sequel kicking somebody's ass?
The last Batman film worked in 3 villains and one pseudo villain (Catwoman), and didn't suffer much for it.

I think we're long overdue for a prominent black supervillain (sorry Killer Croc, you don't really count). I'm just not sure it needs to be Electro. Surely there's a better option to give a race-over...

I always say right actor for the job no matter what. I however just don't see this. Jamie Foxx's limited acting ability doesn't seem the right fit for Electro.

I personally think race doesn't matter, so long as the character is done right. Look at Nick Fury, he used to be white, and now, he's mostly portrayed on his ultimate incarnation. It's the writing, not the race in my opinion. Heck, it's not even the look, look at green goblin, most of the time, he looks like he's wearing a Halloween costume, but we all know he can be a much better villain than what he looks like.
This is exactly the half-assed decisions companies made when doing group agreements... trying to react to glover's campaign while not risking their main property.

I'm torn, honestly. On the one hand, I kinda dig the idea of Jamie Foxx as a comic book villain. On the other...well, yeah.
On a third hand, however...if he does a good job, it really kinda does stick it to the Justice League movie a little bit. Maybe.

They made Spidey a emo skater boy(who is also english in RL),so remember it Can always get worse. Oh, wait if yjis happens no one needs to remember they can just watch the film and another piece of our childhood crumble into dust(granted he could be as good as Sam Jackson as Nick Fury,which is in and of itself a betrayal...like white guys in the 1940's from America would listen to a black man,and the erasing of 50 or so years when we all saw Fury as a white guy,in the comics,in cartoons and once in live action played by David Hasselhoff). At least the Gwen Stacy story comes first this time.

If he does the character justice I really couldn't care less if it's RuPaul playing him. I'm just not sure Jamie Foxx is the man who can do it. All right Mr. Foxx, prove me wrong.
@Someguy To be fair Foxx has come a hell of a long way toward being a serious actor. That said however I still think of his Living Color skits every time I see him.
Also the new spider man is shit anyhow so Fox can screw it up all they want cause it really doesn't matter at this point.
That all said I still want to see the parts with Denis Leary cause Leary kicks ass.
