Maybe it's just me, but I never had the desire to "explore" the Star Wars "universe" beyond the original films. I honestly think that's why the prequels didn't work (despite making a lot of money). Lucas tried making something interesting out of very thin storytelling in the first place. The Star Wars films -- for me -- were about the adventures of the characters in the context of the plots, but I don't know that there's any value (aside from dollar signs) in telling tales of characters who were created as plot devices (i.e., BOBA FETT).

But now insiders tell THR that while Kasdan and Kinberg indeed have been hired to work on the Star Wars franchise, they will be writing separate projects (hence the reason why they also would receive producer credits), not necessarily Episode VIII and Episode IX.Their scripts could turn into official "Episodes" in the main Skywalker storyline, or they could form the basis for spinoffs focusing on side characters. Disney CEO Robert Iger said the goal is to release a Star Wars movie "every two to three years," and some could focus on other pieces of the expansive mythos (similar to Marvel's Avengers universe). Disney and Lucasfilm declined comment.

How does this fit with the news that Lucas has (allegedly) 40-50 hours' worth of scripts for a live-action TV show? Didn't he say he wanted to make these, but the effects would be too costly for a weekly TV series? So why would we NOT get Star Wars spin-offs?
I don't want to be "that guy" but i posted this news hours before Chris...
@Canadian.Scott I also hate to be "that guy" but no one cares about YOUR blog. (I am so sorry, dick begets dick...)
@BowtiesAreCool Wow...And for the record, i posted it on this website but internet rules being what they are, i deserved that. Please enjoy the following...i'm not saying i'm Aldo and i'm definitely not saying you're a nazi.

@Canadian.Scott @BowtiesAreCool Ha! Can we both be Aldo? The internet is the Nazis...
@CaptainZADL And that should stay that way. Although i could see there being an animated series that takes place on Naboo.
@Canadian.Scott But Jar Jar is the spiritual descendant (ancestor? how does it work in galaxies far, far away and long ago?) of Goofy. And Disney owns both Goofy and Jar Jar.
They could do a road-trip movie!
iWookie: a show about a teenage Wookie who starts an unnaturally popular unfunny holo-show!
Quentin Tarantino's Gungan Apocalypse, starring Uma Thurman's feet and featuring the death of Jar Binks?
"19 Kids and Counting".. recounting the adventures of Anakin as he hunts down and kills the "younglings"
"Gungan P.I." ... tag along as J.J. Gungan solves crime on a Hawaii like planet.
"Survivor: Degobah" ... Do outwit, or do not. Do out play, or do not. Do outlast, or do not...there is no try"
"Pawn Stars: Vader edition"... yeah, so this is common and there's a bit of rust here. The value isn't what I originally thought. What I mean is...I have changed my offer. Pray I do not change it further.
@Gallen_Dugall A sentient planet just at the edge of the Galaxy. Known for it's perpetual day it has four Suns. Then one of it's Suns is used as a test for the Sun Crusher weapon. After one of it's suns is destroyed it has to adjust to the change.
Title: My Three Suns.
@Gallen_Dugall Takes place after episode one. Sebulba washed up trying to repent for his evil ways runs into a Jedi who with use of the force can force run super fact but then can't control it. They join their skills together and Sebulba becomes Knight Rider.
@Gallen_Dugall Adventures before Solo meets Chewbacca. He could be teamed up with some girl who is pulled into his great adventures. They can call it Han Solo and Gretel.
"Ten Things To Do Before You're Digested"
The movie that finally explains what Boba Fett was doing in that giant toothy desert vagina while Luke , Han & company killed his employer and escaped. Might be able to get Dr Abraxas to write the screenplay since it wouldn't technically be FF.
"Driving Miss Tarkin"
Grandma Tarkin (frequently confused for her grandson Grand Moff Tarkin) drvien around by her Wookie chauffeur Lumpy. Plays out pretty much like you'd expect
Okay let me pitch this to you:
Ben Quadinaros and Kitster Banai they're cops bringing law and order to the mean streets of Mos Espa while staying on the right side of the criminal cartel that owns it, but when one Hutt goes too far these two will break all the rules to see justice done. I'm thinking Beverly Hills cop meets Serpico. The thing practically writes itself!
A touching story of a single father doing all he can to raise his six little kids while holding down a job. Set just weeks before episode four. It will be called Guido and sons ........ Uh maybe not.
Does anybody else have an issue with the new posting system where after clicking "post comment" the comment box goes blank but your comment doesn't appearafter hitting refresh? The comment is usually there if I return to the site later, but it makes me confused about whether my post got deleted in transit.
@EvilMonkeyPope I have noticed that i do not receive alerts when people comment or like my posts until 4 or 5 hours later...
@EvilMonkeyPope I've also seen on my desktop posts appear from nowhere that are marked hours old. Likes, unlike themselves.
How about...
A "Married...With Children" reboot starring Anakin, Padme, Luke and Leia? In later seasons, as the kids grow up and get less cute, they could "adopt" Sy Snootles.
or
Law and Order: Coruscant.
Come on people, there's got to be a funny one.
@James.k.Polk man you don't want to mess with Sy - she killed a Hutt. Totally ice cold.
Lego Lord of the Ring THE MOVIE - it's an hour and a half long
Can TR run the remaining daily lists Rob comissioned before leaving while we wait for our new official overlord?
@EvilMonkeyPope LOL you think the TR management actually thought ahead about something in the last few weeks?
I love the Wars. I saw Star Wars during its original theater run - it was the first movie I'd ever seen. It had a profound influence on me, but reading this I realize that I just don't care about these new films.
I can't wait for the new Arrested Development to have a scene where Lucille tells Annyong "Here's some money. Go see a Boba Fett-centered Star War."
Don't get too excited guys, Chris is just blowing his load for the last time, and then TR is spent.
Joe Johnston on a Star Wars film?
Considering his name's all over a lot of OT concept art, I'd be down for that.
The NEW Star Wars Christmas Special!! As long as they don't throw a moon on Chewbacca, I'll be happy
@arivalscientist I don't get why everyone hates on that christmas special so much. I remember watching it on tv and for the time period that it aired it really was about the same quality as any other tv show that was on back then. Those actors that appeared on it were the same actors that were on all the other shows. That Boba Fett cartoon was so awesome for me back then because I was saving all my proofs of purchase for him and other things available by mail.
I hear people saying things like, "I don't know why they ever made it, it was so awful". As a kid back then I was mesmerized by anything star wars and if they wanted to make a christmas special I wasn't about to miss it no matter what it was about. It could have been Carrie Fisher drinking for an hour and I wouldn't have cared.
@telezombie @arivalscientist Where in my post did I say I hated the original Star Wars Christmas Special??..........I'm just saying they need to make a new one........And don't make Chewbacca eat the moon cheese.......
I'd like some Crimson Empire with a side of Shadows of the Empire, hold the cheese... thanks.
I submit a request to make movie adaptations of the "Vendors" webseries. MAKE IT HAPPEN, DISNEY.
