Considering there's nothing romantic about the Superman/WW hookup, I just see it as DC advocating stress induced consequence free boning. The only really romantic one post-Flashpoint is Batwoman.

As a great TV show once reminded us, love is exciting and new. This is doubly true when said love involves superheroes getting it on. So in an effort to pander to fan fiction writers everywhere, DC has just announced Young Romance: A New 52 Valentine's Day Special. Just because they are tortured by their burden to protect mankind, superheroes still love things like getting gifts from Tiffany's and snuggles with their boos just like us normal folk! Lesson learned. Here's what the company's press release has to say about the matter:

Really? Because I kind of do want to miss it, even with the promise of included Valentines I could send to myself to briefly forget that I am totally unlovable*. Then again according to Kenneth Rocafort's above cover, superheroes get off on destruction. And I have always wondered what comics written by J.G. Ballard would be like. Oh DC, your attempts at profiting from fanwankery have left me feeling so conflicted!

both Marvel and DC have done Valentine specials before how is this one shocking or a big deal? Answer it's not might have a few good stories/art it's nothing to get in a huff about

I invest nothing in DC after the relaunch. Which was funny because I was slowly getting into a number of DC books.
That said. It an interesting one off sort of thing. But generally books that focus solely on romance do better (if ever) in their own canon. How well did the old romance books do back in the day? I know they petered out out in popularity but I assume that they were still popular at some point.
Okay, if it's going to involve Batwoman and The Question I might take a look but that picture? Seriously, I look at that and I don't see Superman and Wonder Woman kissing, I see the stupid looking armor Superman is wearing and it totally takes me out of the moment.
@kirkbwriter I look at that and wonder why the hell they're making out over the smoking ruins of a major battlefield with the various limbs of some creatures or something sticking out of the rubble.
I'm also wondering why the invulnerable civilian farmer/journalist Superman is wearing full body armor while the warrior princess Wonder Woman is still wearing a one-piece swimsuit.
@fishercl64 @kirkbwriter I think DCU ethical doctrine is: if it doesn't have a heartbeat, you're typically allowed to kill it with impunity and not feel bad. So, maybe those are killbots or something.(And, naturally, my mind instantly has a flash of a surviving Killbot kneeling down in the rubble, grasping the lifeless claw of a another dying one, pinned under an I-beam, quietly choking out the last stanza of "Der gute Kamerad."This is probably why I'm not a good DC fan.)

Seriously, the hell? This just seems odd. Mind, I'm not bashing this outright, but it seems like a targeted attempt to broaden the market. If it works, power to them.
I'm reminded of those horrible "enemies of geekdom" ads DC's been putting in their book - including that "the studio exec" one.
and glad midnighter and apollo love is included in the book . plus wondering who dc will have night wing hooked up with . though one is proably going to buy the thing just for the valitines to give to their own loved one if he or she is a fan of dc.

On the one hand, this is just a dumb, bizarre idea. On the other, the inclusion of Batwoman and Apollo & Midnighter hits me straight in my well-documented weakness for LGBT content. Curses!
seems dc now wants to cash in on the romance market. even though most of the characters throught their history have had a romance from time to time. which given how dc views over the years about their big guns hooking up surprised dc would get all romantic with this book. for wonder woman and superman should have hooked up a long time ago.

Also, what the hell is going on with Wonder Woman's hips in that picture? I don't know if that's anatomically correct or not, but it just looks weird to me.

Wait. One self-loathing. That not enough to meet the quota. Now you buy that comic and you send those things anonymously to everyone in the office but you and remind yourself that you didn't get one because no one loves you! Oh and because your that guy in the office that does that weird thing. You know, that thing.
