Eighteen Inches of He-Manliness

Wasn’t it just a couple of months ago that the creative types at Mattel were telling us that the Masters of the Universe line was in danger of cancellation, only to have it magically sell out over quota at the very last minute? Why yes, yes it was, and I’m still a little peeved that I bought an extra subscription to “help out” when it turned out not to be needed at all. Because then they pulled the same trick with a $250 castle, and also this month put an $80 dragon on sale. And now they’ve even outsourced the license, with the news that there will be quarter-scale statues from Pop Culture Shock Collectibles.

Pop Culture Shock is run by Jerry Macaluso, whom you may remember as head of the late, lamented SOTA toys, which were going to give us Leprechaun and Re-Animator figures before they folded. Since then, he’s focused on high-end statues, mostly but not exclusively of Street Fighter characters.

Want a hint of what he could do with Skeletor? Check out the variant Mortal Kombat Scorpion (formerly) available through Sideshow Collectibles.

Just be warned: if you thought $250 for Castle Grayskull was steep, your wallet might be about to cry in pain.
