• The Mary Sue is reporting that Martin Sheen's Uncle Ben will return in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. I don't know how such a thing is possible, but I'm praying that the answer involves zombies.
• From the "when does this dude sleep?" file comes word that Ian McKellen will be providing the voice of the snowman in this year's Doctor Who Christmas special titled, wait for it, "The Snowman."
• Jonathan Frakes reflects upon his time as Will Riker in this interview with NBC Chicago.
• USA Today examines how George Takei made his way from Star Trek to the pages of the latest (and very enjoyable) issue of Archie Comics' Kevin Keller.
• R.I.P. Nintendo Power. (Via Comics Alliance)
• Geek Girl Chicago reviews Denny's Hobbit-themed menu.
• io9 brings to our attention the following (sadly fake) outtakes from The Dark Knight Rises:
If only the movie was this entertaining. Zing!

What? No report of how Gail Simone got fired (by email !) off Batgirl (her only DC book) and the giant internet shitstorm that followed?
Honestly, even Gail writing Babs couldn't make me accept the asinine change DC made with the regression of this character. And, as much as I like her, it didn't even seem she was in her top form on this book as much as I know she loves the character. Yet despite all those complaints about the character and even the writing, even from loyal fans like myself, it was still pulling in great sales. It was the number four best selling DC book last month and the top female lead book, even over the much praised Wonder Woman. So there's no way in hell DC can claim they fired her over low sales. Some bullshit was going in the DC offices on to cause this.
@TheXenos I'm only five issues into her run but I'm enjoying it. She took what could have been a supreme screw-up (removing her from the wheelchair and roll at Oracle) and turned into an entertaining ride. I love you DC, but sometimes I think you like to smell your own farts a bit too much.
The video starts out strong and descends into stupid.
Sigh. And the guy had a good Bane voice, too. They just overdid it.
WooHoo? Uncle Ben flashback.
Oh my Beloved Nintendo Power. I'm not surprised though. A lot of people have been blaming Japan because they are difficult but I have my doubts. My subscription ran out just 2 magazines short of their cut off day. I asked if I could pay for them to subscribe to the end, willing to pay full price for the magazines. I've been a subscriber since I was a kid in 1989. Their newer (2007) publisher; who sell other magazines; instead of treating this as a great way to keep a customer, happy decided they couldn't be bothered. So I boycott anything printed by Future US. You know, I think they have killed lots of my magazines.
io9 has censored AND NOW CANCELED Bricken's FFF after sooo many complaints from the a*&hole management and readers of that stick-up-the-but gawker blog. This is why I stopped reading their garbage several years ago...
@David_B I love Rob and want to keep reading what he writes but I took one look at that site and closed the tab soon thereafter.
Don't know if this goes with this post, but maybe it does since it's sort of nerd news.
I just saw at io9 that Rob's FFF was cancelled. Something about shaming the fan fic writers. Can't say I'm too surprised. I read the comments after the first FFF at io9 and there seemed to be a lot of reader complaints.
I only read a few FFF stories here at TR myself, but I can't say I agree that these writers are getting picked on.
@OneMinuteGalactica Yeah this has been floated around on here for about a week now and we are all a little sore about it. The point as i see it is that Rob did it as a wink and nod to the genre and that it was all tongue and cheek but a lot of the people felt it was an attack. io9 is a different beast then here so maybe FFF was too soon over there. It has been brought up to the new overlord to bring Rob back to write over here but his new job may not agree.
@Canadian.Scott @OneMinuteGalactica Yeah, I only noticed later that the article I read at io9 was dated Dec. 3, and I'm late to the party as always.
I was wondering when i could pull this out...
@Canadian.Scott I wonder if he can whip that off and throw it like Wonderwoman's boomerang tiara
@Canadian.Scott And, of course, the sequel to this gif:
