For the love of all that's good and decent, will you people PLEASE stop paying to see Sony's version of Spider-Man? It's just plain awful, insulting, and pandering to the wrong audience. If you stop paying to see these movies, Sony will eventually decide the character has been used up and let him go back to Marvel Studios... Or at least I can hope for that, since as long as Spidey's with Sony, he's going to SUCK.

"Chronicle" star Dane DeHaan has been cast as bad boy Harry Osborn in Sony's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," director Marc Webb confirmed on Twitter on Monday afternoon.DeHaan, who takes over the role played by James Franco in Sam Raimi's original trilogy, joins returning stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, as well as fellow franchise newcomers Shailene Woodley and Jamie Foxx, latter of whom will play villain Electro.
Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the sequel, which is skedded to swing into theaters in 3D on May 2, 2014.
Script will be credited to Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, as well as Jeff Pinkner, based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt.
DeHaan is no stranger to playing mischievous teens, having co-starred in John Hillcoat's bootlegging pic "Lawless" and Fox's "Chronicle," which grossed a surprise $126 million worldwide.
The thesp can currently be glimpsed in Steven Spileberg's "Lincoln," and next stars in Derek Cianfrance's crime drama "The Place Beyond the Pines," which Focus Features acquired at Toronto. Thesp has also wrapped the West Memphis 3 pic "Devil's Knot" and the period thriller "Kill Your Darlings," which will premiere in competition at the Sundance Film Festival.
To me, DeHaan's performance in Chronicle felt like an alternate universe version of Akira in which Tetsuo was more into listening to the entire 4AD discography than riding his motorcycle. In other words, his ability to emote angst non-stop will be a perfect fit for the often-troubled Harry Osborn. So well done Marc Webb and company. Honestly, I'm way more interested in how they'll replicate this hairstyle for IMAX 3D:

Oh boy, I can't wait until the next Spiderman trilogy when the cast and characters are even younger, like middle school age, and the things they go through and Peter having to deal with his super powers while trying to pass New York's standardized tests. And the trilogy following that, Peter Parker and gang will all be in elementary school and problems will arise during recess, and Peter will have to deal with his powers in the schoolyard.
Impressive act of nerd holiday cheer. Exterminate in good cheer.

Thanks to geekologie.com for a Christmas idea that will keep my kids from trying to open their gifts early.
@Canadian.Scott @Someguy At that time I was finishing up and didn't want to put it on the fresh article until it was properly commented and then abandoned by anyone from MVN.
Okay. Well this story if for those of you who miss the Super Terrific Japanese Thing segments.
All right. Has anyone ever heard of AKB 48? No not the drug, the Japanese pop group. You haven't well start here.

Alright, not too weird right? Well how dare you underestimate Japan. Because they are getting a calendar. Well not a calendar so much as ...... well you'll see. Start at the Japanese site. (This one is SFW and all in Japanese so you can say a weird link took you there)
http://www.shogakukan.co.jp/pr/akb48cal2013/
For those of you who can't read much Japanese I did find a site in English. It is a NSFW site, plus they have extra ideas, so if your at a touchy job use your best judgement.

Thanks to shogakukan.co.jp for the info and tokyokinky.com for giving me nightmares of how they probably will be used. ありがと
Am I the only one who looked at that picture, then put my hand in that exact position to see if it looked as weird and wrinkly as that kid's?
@OneMinuteGalactica With great power comes great physical toll on the body...
@OneMinuteGalactica Just did it now. I think it's mostly the perspective of that photo focusing on the tendon between his index finger and thumb.
@OneMinuteGalactica Yes, I think you are. Now I will have to use great willpower not to do it now. Not going to do it. Not doing it! Not.......Son of a B.........
In the interest of keeping things going around here:The BBC Adventure Calendar is up for this year--24 straight days of clips and goodies about Doctor Who leading up to the Christmas Special, for if you're like me and cannot handle a day without Who News.

Apologies if somebody posted this already over the weekend.
@Someguy @rabidronnie I'm on this really strange Doctor Who high--I got into Doctor Who via Netflix in 2011, and so this is the first season that I've watched as it is released. My excitement levels are a little ridiculous.
@10glfan59 she did watch most of Torchwood while she was sitting in my arms...We just haven't made the jump yet.
My son's were in a fight over a lightsaber and my older one looks at his brother and says don't make me (in this best Dalek voice) exterminate you. I thought I would die laughing.
@10glfan59 Heck, I was pregnant when I started watching. My son's been RAISED on it, quite literally.
@10glfan59 @rabidronnie @Someguy Like yourself, i look forward to getting my daughter involved but for some reason the wife thinks 15 months is not old enough to start...
@rabidronnie Watch the series and then watch Children of Earth. You can avoid the rest (one miniseries and then "US" attempt). And Captain Jack better be involved in the celebration.
@rabidronnie @Someguy @rabidronnie
TR is the reason I have been turned into a Who fan now me and my son have to watch it ever night. So Thanks to all you guys and girls who kept talking about Who till I had to check it out..
@Canadian.Scott I've heard mixed reviews for Torchwood--some people love it, some hate it. My friends who have watched it inform me that I would be one of the latter. I do enjoy Jack, though. Hoping he makes an appearance for the anniversary special.
Does anyone else notice how telling it is that without TR we seem to go to a wide range of places to get our nerd news and yet VVM can only get Cummins once and a while?
@Canadian.Scott I think it's a plot by the Illuminati to get me to get me out of my personal bubble. It won't work. Do you hear that world, "IT WON'T WORK!"
Since we are a little behind on stories, I do another one:
The former Govinator of California is revealing a little more about ruling an Empire with an Iron Hand and ravaging it's neighbors. No, California didn't try to invade Nevada. I don't think so anyways. No, no it didn't. I'm talking about Arnold revealing the direction of the legend of Conan. Here let Denofgeek.com tell you.
http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/conan/23703/what-direction-will-the-legend-of-conan-take
Thanks to denofgeek.com for telling us what is best in life.
@Someguy So we are going to get a movie where Conan is in the movie but not doing anything active? Wow that is exciting stuff.
The IMDB rundown for Star Trek into Darkness. They have Cumberbatch listed as Kahn, but rumored.
Other casting of note, Bruce Greenwood back as Pike, Peter Weller as not Robocop and Heather Langancamp as not the chick from Nightmare on Elm Street.
Jamie Foxx as Electro makes me a little sad, actually. This severely reduces the chances we will ever see a Static Shock movie, which is a shame. This might sound crass or shallow, but I don't think Hollywood will ever accept the American audience as being smart enough to tell two black men with similar power sets apart from each other.
@Kaobel It doesn't sound crass or shallow, just sad as it demonstrates how crass and shallow Hollywood is.
I personally am bummed about Electro as the villain at all. I feel like there are much more significant Spidey villains (with much less ridiculous costumes) that could be used.
George Lucas role for the new Star Wars movie: Star Wars Enciclopedia
According to George Lucas he will be in back of the sets to answer the questions of, 'Who's that guy.'
Thanks denofgeek.com for saving me from the Access Hollywood site.
For those of you who are Walking Dead fans, we broke a record this past weekend!
http://www.uproxx.com/tv/2012/12/more-people-watched-the-walking-dead-mid-season-finale-than-have-been-with-your-mom/We will not see Nick Fury again until winter soldier.
http://www.examiner.com/article/samuel-l-jackson-says-he-ll-appear-captain-america-winter-soldierI like him in these little roles here and there. As long as Marvel doesn't get silly and decide to do a origin movie then i will okay.
So let's build the story now...Before he was Nick Fury, Mace Windu fought during the DC universe Clone Wars. He was a great and powerful fighter until he ran into The Joker who showed him a magic trick. Disgraced by the whole event, he changed his name to Nick Fury and came to earth to run an elite group of Marvel heroes.
@Ford_Thundercougarfalconbird Let's just assume that he was born with one...or that he lost it during the Clone Wars.
@10glfan59 @Canadian.Scott But, but, how will we know how he got his eyepatch??????
given Danes track record so far of playing characters ready to go nuts and pycho. he seems to be the perfect fit for harry wonder if they will also let him be the second green goblin also. in a future spider man film if not this one.
They could cast Carrie Fisher as Electro for all I care - didn't see the emo reboot, will most definitely not be seeing this one.
Thank you for not rewarding Sony for screwing up Spider-Man.
I *did* see it, eventually, but I didn't pay for it. I wish I hadn't seen it, though, because it's awful for a Spider-Man fan to sit for two hours and witness his favorite comic book character being thoroughly crapped upon.
