if lego did a series for the good, the bad and the ugly, that would be the end of everything right there.
From Clint Eastwood and his chair to the Mars Curiosity Rover, the year's most memorable news events are best recalled when reconstructed in block-like toy form, and the L.A. Weekly has obliged.
Now, can we please pull a Back to the Future and get some official Clint Eastwood sets?
More links from around the web!
love how much work went into recapping the year with legos. as for an official clint east wood type set never going to happen for clint will not give his okay to use his likeness on any thing.back to the future sets . lego would have to get the okay from michel fox and cast to be legoed.not going to happen other then maybe a delorean
"the year's most memorable news events" looks a lot like the year's most distorted stories from main stream media
1) Repulican National Convention forces through the nomination of a candidate with a whooping 6% party approval
2) Boom of same gender marriages - the long awaited just deserts for religious zealots who secularized marriage in order to dicriminate against other faiths.
3) Russians still totalitarian assholes - once again only artists stand against them and once again the western manstream media plays it off as a joke
4) There are still people with more money than sense.
5) NASA lands Curiosity rover for the same cost as TWO Direct to Mars manned missions.
6) Waiting until someone dies to accuse them of a crime is very unsatifying.
7) Conn Edison union thugs strand millions without electricity rather than let non-union power companies come into the state to help.
8) Human beings despirately loney no matter how much power they weild
9) The first cracks in the alcohol recreational drug monopoly
10) Anti-gun folks still trying to legislate morality just like anti-abortion folks - both sides oblivious to their utter failure to accomplish anything
@Gallen_Dugall It's amazing how much Curiosity cost. Hopefully with SpaceX we might get a Moon base and on to Mars in the next 20 years. Hopefully I will live long enough to see it happen.
@miketen @Gallen_Dugall Begin clearing room at your local Kwik E Mart's freezer...
@Canadian.Scott @miketen @Gallen_Dugall I was kicked out of one for trying that in 1999.
@miketen @Gallen_Dugall I hope I live long enough to see the housing market crash on Mars.
Luke,
I know that as a civilian I have little standing to criticize, but... Posting naked links to stories posted elsewhere seems... pointless. Many of us come here not just for a nerdy news fix, but for a dose of humor or snark, at least.
@James.k.Polk You have whatever standing you like. Just bear in mind it's a national holiday today.
@LYT It's okay, Former President Polk is not use to the new century yet...
@Gallen_Dugall or perhaps these kinds of bears..
@LYT @James.k.Polk its national hangover recovery day. Let's give LYT a break, I was only half expecting any posts today anyway.
Still, you're not the only one "working" today dude. Drink some coffee and fire up the snark engines.
@Timely-Tardis-Lego @LYT much as I respect IP rights, Rob left the site. I know when Joel left MST3K he took all the Gizmonic Institute stuff with him but he didn't take the concept. Heck the concept of adding and interrupting for commentary isn't new in the least. This may be a case of simple rebranding because I doubt we're going to see Rob do anything with the idea anytime soon
@LYT Alright, I'm fine with that. Thank you for saying so. I'l just wait patiently for Rob's eventual return.....
@Timely-Tardis-Lego @LYT I appreciate the offer, but I spoke to Rob on the subject and he'd like to hold onto FFF until such time as he can use it again. It is his creation, and I want to respect that.
@LYT Hi sorry for bothering you, been meaning to ask, but would it be alright if I tried doing an FFF, free of charge. Like an intern-y thing. I miss FFF that much.....
@East_Threadly I'm not working. Holiday posting in effect. Maybe casual commenting.
