On of the pictures has Chinese knock-off Starcraft! I can't wait for the new STARSHIP game to come out. STARSHIP: HURT OF THE SLURM. I've been playing the first game called STARSHIP: RINGS OF WIBERTY.

A Blizzard-sponsored theme park probably sounds like pure joy to many of you, hence why this one is called "World Joyland." The only catch is that it's in Changzhou, China, and isn't licensed by Blizzard at all; like so many Chinese pop-cultural simulacra, it's a knock-off, based on the very familiar but legally totally different (and imaginary) games called "Terrain of Magic" and "Universe of Starship." Still, with ride names like "Splash of Monster Blood" and "Sky Scrapper," it can't be all bad. And you probably won't get lead poisoning. Shanghaiist has a ton more photos that you need to see.
It's all a whole lot safer-looking than North Korea's attempt at a fun park.
h/t Tokyopop.
More links from around the web!
Oh China, what won't you make a cheap knock-off of? I saw TOCEEBA AA Alkaline batteries for sale at the dollar store. I bet the charge lasts one day. The Wii has its knockoffs. Now they are going grandiose scale with a Warcraft theme park? Watch out for that LEAD PAINT! It helps cause that hallucinogenic feeling so you experience the park better.
Whenever I read about North Korea, all I can think about is Pottsylvania come to life.

First the Gundam, and now this. At least it's kinda close to South Korea, I bet the die hard fans from there might go.
And... North Korea's leader (sorry about all the NK comments since this post is about China):

Love the North Korean Fun Park. Anyone up for a trip to a North Korean arcade?

@grog1138 OH an old Subroc 3D game! I'd forgotten how much I loved that as a kid
This might be my favorite picture of the bunch (http://shanghaiist.com/2011/07/15/joyland_the_blizzard_bits.php#photo-4_)
It just says to me 'Cleaning up by yourself are we? Come lets have a chat' *chomp*
Well let's see here: the fifth picture is a rip off of the gargoyles from Heroes of Might and Magic V; the third to last picture that's a poster to Universe of Starships appears to have a starship from the Starship Troopers movie.
I wonder if employees are instructed to tell people who accuse the park of ripping off Blizzard that "Blizzard ripped off Games Workshop and Games Workshop ripped off Michael Moorcock, so nya."
@Anyone00 this is the country where a car company celebrated being sued by Toyota over copying its cars by even more blatantly copying a Camry and renaming it the FU
I think they just took all the stuff that looked cool and crammed it it
they could call it "IP Cramland"
to be fair to China most great nations start out by stealing heavily from those great nations in decline
For example piracy was the foundation of both the early US and Roman economies
at some point they'll either go utter hypocrite and start rabidly protecting intellectual property or run out of ideas to steal as the West grinds to a halt
@Gallen_Dugall And still to be fair to China, long ago everyone stole from them. Gunpowder, movable type, heck Japan stole most of the written language. So were all even now.
@Someguy @Gallen_Dugall well, if by "everyone" you mean "Arab Pirates" who presented the stolen ideas as their own inventions
@CaptainZADLAh, China, land without respect for intellectual property, where would they be without people who do respect intellectual property to steal from?
Not changing.
@TheConjurerOfCheapTricks It was built for the children of the ruling class but they didn't have the expertise to run or maintain it. There was a South Park episode based on it.
Well if we make China purchase the rights to this, then who will we borrow money from?
@Someguy we could borrow from Zimbabwe

@Gallen_Dugall @Someguy lets see 1 USD = 361.900 ZWD. Hey maybe we can borrow money from the South Pacific nation of Niue. They have cool money.

@kegsThis will be epic...very much like this.

@Someguy @Canadian.Scott @GeekGamerGirl as amusing as that video is Germany just got in trouble for deporting its elderly to bargain nursing homes in China.
I'll take the ice flow.
@Canadian.Scott @10glfan59 This is going great, Scott. (Great Scott!!!)(I just had to do that at least once) So far we have four imports for our secret canadian research laboratory. I think some need a psych eval. first. Imagine thinking they can call the couch or bathtub! Why? They never come when called!
We will train then, make them politer, healthcare loving, and gun controlling. Then we send them back as the ultimate sleeper agents... yes. yes. YES!!! (insert polite maniacal laughter here)
U.S.Eh! U.S.Eh!
@Canadian.Scott @GeekGamerGirl Don't worry GeekGamerGirl. From what I understand Canada has been very progressivesince 2001.
@10glfan59 I do live in a four bedroom house with a basement. Plus with your help, i could build a two story shed.
@Gallen_Dugall @Someguy time to move to Canada. I think Scott has room for all of us
@Someguy @Gallen_Dugall yeah but I have to respect a country that paid off it's $150,000,000 in debt to the USlund with paper worth $75 and got the USlund State Department to accept this as "a rounding error" - at least the EU had the sense to recalculate their loans based on inflation
