Frankenstein's forehead, Keaneau Reeve's blank stare, Pauly D's wardrobe...yup a real winner.
Via French site Toyzmag.com, we have our first significant look at Mattel's (unfortunately) inevitably mediocre Superman toys for later this year. Perhaps most significantly, it gives us a better look at Zod, and the fact that Michael Shannon probably did not sign off on his likeness. Also, he looks like he won first prize in the Kryptonian horseshoes contest.

My French is quite rudimentary so I'm not sure where these were taken, but I suspect the UK Toy Fair. Also pictured are some card mock-ups, the stretchy figures that a commercial leaked for last year, mini-vehicles and a design for a basic Superman figure that rips a motorbike apart.
I am not yet kneeling, General.
UPDATE: Those pictures seem to be down but they're still HERE.

ToyzMag means to clarify the publication of several photographs showing Mattel new toyline from the next Superman movie Man of Steel.
These pictures were taken during the press presentation organized by Mattel France. Our editor responded to Mattel France’s invitation and went to their premises near Paris. He openly took several pictures of the toys displayed and received a USB flashdrive containing the corporate catalog for 2013. These are the only sources for the images we published earlier this week on our website.
During the press presentation, before publication that is, our editor, asked Mattel’s representatives about any copyright issue considering the previous leak of Batman The Dark Knight Rises toys in 2012. We were told that no embargo was active and that these questions had been already dealt with.
However, we learned yesterday night that these images and products were not supposed to be shown to the presse. Out of respect for Mattel and according to our own sense of responsability, ToyzMag has decided to remove this pictures from its website.
The only thing I've seen about this movie that I find remotely interesting is Laurence Fishburne. Absolutely everything else about it has been a huge turn off and I'm the guy that defends the flaws in Superman Returns. Except for the kid. I'm a massive Superman fan, but I have my limits.
All the best Superman movies either have Christopher Reeve, George Reeves, or are animated (even that's a short list. Last Son of Krypton, World's Finest even though they didn't call it that in promotional material, and All-Star)
Well, they look terrible but I wouldn't want them even if they looked great. So... it really doesn't matter what I think. Didn't stop me from sharing my opinion, though.
No sir.
Do they even do focus groups with kids to see if they like these? Probably not. I bet it's too "cost prohibitive".
@blackarbor The problem is it's the only toy they put in there and they leave the kids there for hours.
Judging by these figure's, there's no way Mattel is getting Ma' cash, HEYOOOOOOOOO
The look on Zod's face in that picture seems to be saying "This is it? This is the best you can do? When you presented your idea to the toy designers you said 'Thats what we want! The last-chicken-in-the-shop look!'"
@skrag2112This is what was thought...

DO NOT WANT. I really hope Hasbro & Mattel learn their lesson when these summer blockbuster toys can't be given away. Hell, I bet they dump 'em in the Toys for Tots bin, and even they won't want 'em. Hopefully they'll realize that they should cater to collectors more, as kids these days don't care as much about toys. Not to say none of them do, but gone are the days of He-Man and G I Joe flying off the pegs of the local stores.
I hate how everyone's trying to get back to 1990s Kenner articulation.
Even Hasbro's doing it with Iron Man 3's toys.
I'm not a toy collector but i would guess this is an appropriate response...

@PCabezuelo One rumor I heard was that the colors of the suit are going to be digitally enhanced for the final film. I guess that one's true.
I still don't care about the movie.
You'd think they would have learned after the crappy (and unsold) Superman Returns figures and upped their game. Good old Mattel! Plus I love how the blue on Superman's costume is so much brighter than the one worn in the movie. Almost like they're trying to market a super hero to children! Gasp! What will they think of next?
Oh my glob if I were a collector I would be dissapointed - fortunately I am not a collector and have no appointments to dis
