Wanna bet the girl on the poster appears nowhere in the movie?
Remember The Wizard? Of course you do. Road-trip movie starring Fred Savage and Jenny Lewis, about a cross-country trip to participate in a Nintendo competition, mocked at the time, loved semi-ironically by hipsters nowadays.
Noobz, starring Jason Mewes, promises a look at gamer culture from the inside...and a cross-country trip to participate in an online gaming competition. Judging by the trailer, though, my guess is that its best hope lies in semi-ironic rediscovery twenty or so years from now.
Noobz opens theatrically January 25th, and hits DVD/On-Demand four days later.

Yeah; this looks very unwatchable indeed. Kinda seems to be playing into stereotypes, and not in a funny way like "Dodgeball" did.
So it's just a way for washed up actors to get some work and try to be relevant and funny? The minute I saw Bill Belamy I knew it was going to be a pile of steaming horse shit.
The poster alone is hideous and beyond pandering. Whatever marketing idiot thought it up should be dragged into the street and teabagged. It's disgustingly dumb and base. As bad as 'gamer' culture is.. this is a poor representative. This is like some bad parody of the most vulgar and thoughtless movie poster one could make. We are heading ever closer to those jokes Bill Hicks made about sex in marketing becoming reality.
adam sesslar should look into donating plasma if he needs money, at least that is respectable
You know, I had a gif for this, but I lost it. It had a ton of names for breasts, popping up.
@Timely-Tardis-Lego Alright. I'll just half to scour the internet all night trying to find that gif for you.
@Timely-Tardis-Lego @Someguy One of the lousy things about the anonymous is that I don't get the emails so I always miss messages that are changed or deleted.
@Someguy @Timely-Tardis-Lego Some one should song a song about all the names to the tune of the animaniacs continent song...
Heh, So Moises Arias DID something after Hannah Montana... I thought he had vanished from the face of the Earth...
Weird seeing Mewes without Kevin Smith...
Unless this destined-to-be-a-piece-of-shit movie's only saving grace ends up being that it's little more than a glorified commercial for a hotly anticipated upcoming real-life game featured in the climax of the film as The Wizard's sole claim to fame was, I can wholeheartedly guarantee this movie couldn't hold The Wizard's jock on any substantial level.
@LYT @nightstarx In that regard at least, even Mallrats did a better job, there.
No, Wizard's only real redeeming factor was informing gamers of Super Mario Bros 3 and the warp whistle. Well, that and how to jump off the bridge in Double Dragon and die. ........i guess.
@rabidronnie @nightstarx target audience is male preteens who will want to be drinking PEPSI MAX and only PEPSI MAX
@nightstarx Keep in mind too, though, that it was a kids movie. Let's be honest, many/most of modern kids movies are glorified commercials anymore (*coughcough*SMURFS*coughcough*). That's how marketers get the kids. Who exactly is the target audience for this misbegotten feature??
@megazell Aww. Lookit the wittwe comment. That quaint little curious notion which hipsters still cling to, in which real people actually still play video games on their computers (outside of retro console emulators)? That's adorable. Never lose that naive charm or your sense of humor. ^_^
@LinkageAX Based on that poster, I think somebody was trying to write "boobz" and their finger slipped.
I can't decide if it's stupid, offensive, or just completely uninteresting. . .
@Gallen_Dugall @rabidronnie I nominate a fourth thing. Sexist. Ten to one, I'll bet it features a hot supermodel that claims to be a gamer yet is portrayed as not knowing a Wii from a 360, or in essence knows shit all about gaming, yet wants for some reason to be included in the culture in order to exploit it.
I swear, just looking at this poster and the trailer, it's kind of like the same feeling as seeing an adaption of Doctor Zhivago or the works of E.B White as imagined by Eli Roth or Micheal Bay.
@rabidronnie @nightstarx @Gallen_Dugall And that character will be a lesbian because good gamer girls have got to be a lesbian.
@nightstarx @Gallen_Dugall @rabidronnie Either that, or a comedically stereotyped feminazi girl who kicks butt at all the video games and rescues all the stupid boys as a hat tip to any girlfriends dragged to the theater.
