Am I the only one who saw the pictures and thought "Gee, the Otori Group is Slipping."
This is Tropical Islands, in Germany. It used to be a Soviet military hangar, and it's tall enough to fit the Statue of Liberty inside. (Check out an image of it in winter - total Watchmen finale vibe going on.)
Instead, it has a mini-rain forest and a tropical beach.
Note that I went with fan photos, due to the resort's punitive-sounding policy as regards their official press images.
Check out the promo video after the jump, complete with fake Coldplay music. It honestly feels like it's about to turn into a Resident Evil trailer at any moment...
They just need a giant squid to make it all complete.

I keep thinking that somehow, someway, this is going to either lead to the next BioShock game or a real life example of one.
um.... other than being a bit taller and having some sand, the tropical waterslide park in West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Alberta is failry similar, way older and in many ways better. Personallly I wouldn't want the sand.
all that lovely tropicalness and not one brown person
(ok, there is one asian servant but we assure you she is very clean.)
you too can bask in racial isolation.
ignore the oppressive walls and the strained smiles that the staff wear,
reality never felt so safe, or so sinister.
There is something so 'Westworld' about this. I wonder how many tourists have mysteriously vanished so far.
Just a little correction here: it's not a former Soviet military hangar. It's an assembly hall for a never-finalized project to build cargo-lifting zeppelins.
I used to have access to a pocket dimension that was like this, except not so touristy. I used it to keep my tea warm.
Boy I can't wait for James Bond to go there and stop the evil mastermind and blow the place up.
I have two reactions I don't know what one to play...okay I'll do this one...The commercial would have been better with this guy and the caption "Come in for relaxation and then never escape!"
