It's especially cool that they waited for Cary Tagawa to get old enough that he actually looks like the first game's Shang Tsung a bit, and brought him back. But I never thought they'd manage to make the game costumes look decent and accurate in real life - pretty much everyone has failed at that so far.
Oh, and the Scorpion joke early in this clip - I won't spoil it, but it's very well-played.
Watch after the jump.

The thing is that scorpion wore yellow after he died to mock sub zeros clan, so he shouldn't be wearing yellow in the beginning. that being said, this is almost like a reboot and a retelling with the same characters and will probably be worth watching. Hopefully their will be lots of finishing moves and no babalities.
As long as no one turns into a 100 ft tall dragon and an even taller hydra monster, I think I'll give it a chance.
I actually really liked the first movie, but then I was never as into Mortal Kombat as I was other games so I wouldn't have been bothered by inconsistencies or costumes. Plus it had the Highlander in it.
I despise the second movie and try to forget it exists.
More Mortal Kombat goodness!
I'm excited at any rate. I'll take as much Mortal Kombat as they can give me. I've even watched the really bad tv series that was produced about a decade ago. Admittedly, it was with friends and lots of beers, I wouldn't recommend it stone cold sober... but it was fun and entertaining.
The first movie was definitely the best - but it's still a fun world full of fun characters and I'm pretty excited to see it still getting love. As long as people keep trying, eventually we'll get something better than the first movie and that will be a joyous day for all.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around Johnny Rico playing Johnny Cage. Not quite sure that is going to work...guess we'll see.
@rene.aldrete Yep. Before Iron Chef he was also the star of Brotherhood of the Wolf, Double Dragon, and The Crow TV series
@LYT@rene.aldreteI can't believe this guy was The Crow...

What makes Mortal Kombat movies,tv, and other media hard is when you get to the Tournament you have to pick winners and losers. Individual origins are great but one you go into the Tournament only one can win.
We also have done this a few times. It's hard to get excited about it again.
@LYT It's your site, just do what you want. I liked the first movie but then my interest died.
@Canadian.Scott @LYT I'm with you...this is the first MK live-action thing since then that I've liked the look of, though.
"It's your site, just do what you want."
@10glfan59 The outfits do look good. It's like someone finally realized that they were not going to make it look exact and instead made it look right but excepted that it was real.
