You people think your Cartoon Network is bad? My country's (Brazil) Cartoon Network canceled Adult Swim completely...

So, good news: Nickelodeon knows better than to cancel your favorite heroes. They just announced renewals of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Legend of Korra, SpongeBob SquarePants,The Fairly OddParents, Winx Club, T.U.F.F. Puppy, Kung Fu Panda : Legends of Awesomeness and Robot and Monster.
There'll be some new shows too:
-Look for a cartoon based on the video game Rabbids, which will apparently be "all about having fun and saying 'Bwaaaaaah!'" Kids know how to do that, but sometimes we older 'uns forget.
-Breadwinners "follows two booty-shaking ducks as they operate a bread delivery service out of their awesome, jet-fueled rocket van." That's an unusual premise because ducks usually take bread from you, you see.
-Monsters versus Aliens is based on the Dreamworks animated movie, but probably won't have Reese Witherspoon and Seth Rogen. I'm assuming. Maybe it will.
-And finally, Sanjay and Craig is about a boy and his pet snake. I'm not sure which is which, but I do know that Chris Hardwick voices whichever one Craig is, because eleventy billion other things to do weren't enough for him.
What will you be setting the DVR for?

TMNT has a Liefeld parody called Newtralizer coming up: http://www.blogcdn.com/www.comicsalliance.com/media/2013/02/newtralizer.jpg
Cartoon Network is still on the air? once they canceled 'Symbionic Titan" the channel was dead to me.
@razgriz1138 It was starting to go somewhere. I don't think it got there in time though.
@Someguy @DrAbraxas A zombie fly? I guess we know where to aim.
Ugh, that joke was below the belt.
I will probably stick with my Animation Domination of FOX with Simpsons, Bob's Burgers and Family Guy. And FX's Archer. The other ones mentioned I will probably pass.
@Canadian.Scott Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz,.. how much buzz do you need? Get some drinks, get your own buzz on, then watch them.
@Someguy @Canadian.Scott I am a creature of habit and do not like leaving my comfort zone for new things. So if i'm going to start watching something it better not disappoint.
"Cartoon Network" well clearly that's the problem; you mislabeled the network.
Oooh, I am quite cautious about Rabbids, if only because the games have been kind of a Base Breaker in recent years, with some gamers finding the characters getting annoying now, & annoyed at the fact that they pretty much stole allthe attention away from Rayman (who, you know, was kinda the original star of those games).
Come to think of it, I'd rather prefer a 2D Rayman Origins cartoon, same 2D art style & everything. Now that would hopefully be a killer mix of humor & action. Of course, as long as we're wishing, I have about half a dozen other video games I'd like to see turned into cartoons as well...
Oh, & the others sound decent, though I guess I'd like to see some art & such first before I started making better judgements...
The stupidity and ineptitude of Cartoon Network is much easier to understand when one realizes it's a Time Warner company.
THANK GOD! The new TMNT is an excellent cartoon, and one of the few left for me to watch
Incidentally, FUCK YOU, Cartoon Network. FUCK YOU FOREVER!
Spongebob is back? And 'Fairly Odd Parents'? Ugh.
There are two good examples of why some shows should really know when its time to pull the plug.
@skrag2112 There's a really odd continuum, at one end of which is the "Firefly" level cancelled-before-its-time, and at the other end the "Disney movie sequel" level running something into the ground so hard that nobody dares speak its name lest it rise again and wreak its unholy fury. Nickelodeon tends toward the latter, while CN (because apparently it's hip to abbreviate names now *massive eye roll*) tends towards the former.
"Monsters versus Aliens is based on the Dreamworks animated movie, but probably won't have Reese Witherspoon and Seth Rogen."
Good guess. According to Wikipedia, via Bob Schooley, all the voice actors are new: Dr. Cockroach (Chris O'Dowd), Susan (Riki Lindhome), Link (Diedrich Bader), and B.O.B. (Eric Edelstein)
@skycaptain Hold up. Dr. Cockroach is being played by Chris O'Dowd??
Now I must watch this, just to see if Dr. Cockroach counsels anybody to "try turning it off and on again."
Go Korra! Also, is anyone else shocked at the longevity of Spongebob? That show's been going on for what, 15 years? Good for them!
@Big.Jim.Slade I'm personally more impressed at the longevity of Fairly Oddparents, which has been around a few years longer than that and is, in my opinion, a significantly better show.
@rabidronnie @Big.Jim.Slade Really? Because I gave up on Fairly Oddparents after a few seasons, largely due to it being too formulaic, too predictable, & having the idiot ball passed around way too damn much between characters (except maybe Wanda). And from what I've heard, every time they try to mercy kill it, some farewell movie just keeps bringing it back...
@Someguy@rabidronnieIt's in the same "meh" category for me, with the only good joke being the meta-ness of pairing Jason Alexander and Cheryl Hines for a few scenes as human Cosmo & Wanda.
@shezcrafti @SlyDante777 Actually, I wouldn't know. Haven't tuned into recent Spongebob as well, largely because I pretty much gave up on YTV* up here until recently. But at least I didn't give up because the show revolved around idiot plots...Too much. =P
*YTV = The Canadian Nickelodeon equivalent, basically. At least until we actually got a Niceklodeon Canada.
@rabidronnie The live action OddParents movie was (I'll go with) okay but goofy. The live action was silly. The jokes were the same just acted out live. Timmy is 23 and refuses to grow up so he doesn't lose the Fairies but falls in love with Tootie and blah, blah, blah. See it once while cleaning the house and never think of it again.
@SlyDante777 @rabidronnie @Big.Jim.Slade I don't like the movies, to be honest (and I heard they did a live-action movie and that made me really sad inside), but I just enjoy the humor. I do think the quality has dropped off over the past few years, but I'd say that's happened with both OddParents and Spongebob, and Spongebob NEVER really appealed to me. I found it stupid more than clever most of the time (although there are a few episodes that still make me chuckle).
No DVR here, but glad to hear that Nickelodeon has a brain. Sanjay and Craig I'd enjoy solely on the merits of Chris Hardwick, and I do have a soft spot for Rabbids. Fortunately, pretty much everything Nickelodeon produces shows up on Netflix at some point.
if you have a computer you can make your own DVR - I find it difficult to watch TV without that level of control anymore
@Gallen_Dugall Don't have cable, either. I just hit up Netflix and Hulu if i want to casually watch something, and subscribe to my favorites (read: basically Doctor Who and nothing else) on Amazon Instant if I definitely want to get my fix for sure every week.
@Someguy @rabidronnie @Gallen_Dugall Yeah, I hear that used to happen in Soviet Russia a lot.
@rabidronnie @Gallen_Dugall Be careful. If you don't have Cable, then he has you.

I'm actually shocked at how much I've enjoyed the new TMNT. Shocked, I tell ya. I've caught almost all of the eps between polishing my shotgun and chasing kids off my lawn and they have a nice balance between sweet and sarcasm and the action scenes are really well done. They look like ninjas for the first time. It's hard to wrap your mind around the new takes, especially for someone that grew up with the old series like I did, but man, I think they're doing a good job. Watch a couple episodes, then watch the old one... They were really bad ninjas back then.
@NealKristopher Four things that I absolutely love about the new Turtles cartoon:
1. The fact that Leonardo gets his leadership cues from Captain Kirk (okay, a Captain Kirk expy, but still).
2. The fact that if twenty years ago, you had told me that Donatello would be my absolute favorite Turtle & that he'd be the show's breakout star, I would have laughed in your face. But by gum, you proved my 8-year-old-self wrong & then some. God bless you, Rob Paulsen.
3. Best. Splinter. Ever. "The first rule of being a Ninja is to do no harm...Unless you mean to do harm. Then do lots of harm!!" That was the cherry on top right there.
4. Pretty much everything else. Duh. 8D
@SlyDante777 Damn i need to watch this. All my turtles fixes have come in the form in the new IDW series, which I would love it if I could find other fans of!
@LYT @Regular_Stormy @10glfan59 Your post "On the Appeal of He-Man to Me." Haha I asked if you had read the new DC series, you said no, I said you can read mine if you want. It probably just got lost in the thread, no worries man. It has since ended, and is far from perfect, but as a fan I enjoyed it thoroughly.
@Regular_Stormy @10glfan59 Whoa whoa whoa. When did this offer happen? I remember none of it.
@10glfan59 That is dreadful. Once I offered my He-Man comic books to LYT to borrow, but he ignored me haha. My arm would take very little twisting to send you TMNT if you want, assuming you send them back. It's such a worthwhile read...
I got one of them then my comic shop moved 40 min away so I am comic book less (it is a sad sad world)
@NealKristopher What I'm impressed at the most is how they made a point to not forget the "Teenage" part of the name.
The 2003 series was good but they never really felt like teenagers.
@GeneralTekno @NealKristopher I like the little attention to detail. Leo loves this old Star Trek-ish cartoon, Raph's got a chip in his plastron, Mikey's more Mikey than ever, and Don's got a gap in his teeth. And I have accepted all the little changes that I didn't think I would like at all.
Except the theme song, but at least it isn't as bad as Voltron.
@GeneralTekno @NealKristopher Totally agree. I really love what Nick has done with my beloved Turtles, and I keep continuing to be impressed as hell with every episode.
