Damnit! I was really hoping the next Hulk movie would be Joe Fixit...
Oh well, as long as thy don't shoe-horn a Rulk movie into the works I guess I will live with it.
So says Latino Review, who are usually right about the Marvel stuff (they called it on Guardians of the Galaxy first).

I love that Marvel is thinking that epic and crazy at this stage. I'm done with angst-ridden Banner walking the Earth, indestructible to any human foe. He was finally fun in The Avengers, and he can be again if done right. "Done right" means a ton of money if your lead is mostly an oversized CG effect, but Dreamworks made a bunch of movies about a big obnoxious green guy, and that worked out. Heck, look at Willem Dafoe in John Carter. Like that movie or not, can you imagine a Marvel film on a similarly huge scale?
The full video scoop is after the jump...
DC, meanwhile...still stuck on predictable origin stories. Sigh.

I don't think it'll work. A Planet Hulk requires all Hulk and no Banner, plus a crew of very alien-looking (read not all humanoid) support cast so if they don't make drastic alterations to the story, it's just all CGI characters, something I don't believe a live action movie would carry fairly well on an affordable budget. Not to mention that key players in the tale like Silver Surfer is tied up movie-wise or that the story itself is even a larger gamble with general audiences than Avengers was. The animated film serves Planet Hulk well and I would like to see a sequel to that in the same format.
@DoctorOddfellow If you think there won't be at least one sexy humanoid female on that far-off alien world, then son, you don't know Hollywood.
hope it becomes true if nothing else marvel could use the film to set up for guardians of the galaxy as having the hulk have to battle rocket racoon or grot. in the arena then after wards can do world war hulk later down the road.
@demoncat_4 Guardians of the Galaxy is coming first, so it'd be the opposite.
@LYT @demoncat_4 still would work since fans would be already use to rocket racoon by then besides the thought of seeing the hulk battle a gun toting talking smart mouth racoon or a talking tree would be to hilerious an oppurtunity for marvel to pass up for fans.
@EvilMonkeyPope no doubt if hulk does well box office wise she hulk will finaly get her due since marvel has said they are not just stuck on the male characters for movies they also see the female characters too. though odds are we will proably see she hulk in live action on the hulk tv series first.
@demoncat_4@EvilMonkeyPope Del Toro said the development of the Hulk show is on hiatus, but for once I don’t think it’s due to dropping the plate it was on among the other dozen projects he’s juggling, but a sign Marvel is thinking of another movie, even if it’s not World War Hulk related.
@donnaryoko @demoncat_4 @EvilMonkeyPope if i remember right del torro said its on hiatus due to them waiting for a certain writer disney wants to do the show. being free. though think marvel finaly decided to build up for avengers two hulk like the other ones better just be part of the film universe though still marvel can be nice and use she hulk any way even in a camoe long over due
That doesn't count because
1. it wasn't an officially licensed movie
2. she was part of an ensemble including more popular Avengers rather than its star
3. they went to the trouble of painting Joanie Laurer's entire body green but she doesn't even go topless. WHOSE RESPONSIBLE THIS?
@EvilMonkeyPope
You wouldn't want to see her topless anymore. The originally-bad boob job has gone wonky and looks even worse, now.
@EvilMonkeyPopeOn the plus side, though, no Sean Waltman scaling her walls. Though I could see him playing Gremlin.
This is good news. Something a bit different from the other Hulk films. I'm picturing John Carter but with Hulk.
Bruce Banner of Mars.
@Bearr No, no, no... you can't actually *have* "Mars" in the title! That's box-office suicide! You should just call it "Bruce Banner!" And I'm not sure about this whole green thing either. Maybe you could have him be some other cola;liDsvf;ra6no08f7dguibhdf
Sorry, everybody. Hollywood producer managed to log on to my computer somehow, but I think I tackled him before he could do too much damage.
It's too late, dude. Hulk's fighting a giant mechanical spider.
Wow, I liked that idea better when it was the plot on Conan. Gladiator to King, with all the overdone cinematics of "King of Thrones" and Spartacus. And that guy is creepy. Why does he talk like he has the inside track on buying drugs? Does he think we are all 12? I am a huge Hulk fan, but I am not really impressed by any of this.
iv heard great things about planet hulk and bad things about world war hulk so should i get both just to finish the whole story or just planet hulk
@daniel Get through Planet Hulk. WWH. Wait until you, or someone you know, gets them all then read it in one shot. (possibly while taking shots) If you read them over too long of a span of time you will give up on it.
@daniel I thought it was odd that the gentleman's yardstick for quality was that he couldn't find any of them in the city, which could very well mean that he could find one in the city dump
@Gallen_Dugall @daniel It's also an allusion to the fact that when Hitchcock was making PSYCHO, he made sure to have people go out and buy up all the copies of the book they could find to make it seem more demanded.
It totally makes sense, the threat of Hulk going crazy can't be keep too long (I count 2 movies already) and it give s the team breaks form a) godly villains and b) extra-terrestrial villains.
Maybe what will happen, if it happens, is that Hulk has to truly unleash his rage to stop Thanos, to such a degree it even scares the other Avengers, and at the end of the movie (probably the after credits teaser) you see Stark, Reed, Xavier and whoever else they put in (maybe not named to avoid legal issues as someone said) discussing a plan for what to do if he ever completely loses it. Then at the start of the Planet Hulk movie, he does.
@kirkbwriter they would not be able to have xavier or reid be part of the Illuminatie talking about what to do about if hulk totaly lost it due to fox owning both the xmen and fantastic four . unless by then marvel has them back to include them .for see just thor. iron man, and cap talking about what to do about the hulk going nuts. and maybe nick fury . or ant man.by then
Correct. A lot of the 616 Illuminati members have their film rights tied up at Fox.
Charles Xavier: Fox
Reed Richards: Fox
Namor: Unknown. Possibly Fox
Black Bolt: Unknown. Possibly Fox
Tony Stark: Marvel Studios
Stephen Strange: Marvel Studios (and not introduced yet!)
So what will they do for the Marvel Cinematic Universe? My guess:
Tony Stark
Nick Fury
Steve Rogers
General Ross
Dr. Strange (maybe his debut?)
One of the Guardians of the Galaxy
@nix.nightbird @demoncat_4 @kirkbwriter black bolt part of the fanstastic four rights so he is out. namor think last i heard universal. so we would proably have tony, nick, steve, and thor. and dr. strange making his debute and maybe ant man since he will have had his film by then
If Marvel pulls it off, it will be huge. I can only imagine the budget though for Planet Hulk would be close to the 300 million range. After the Hulk appearing in the Avengers and pretty much being a scene stealer, making him the protagonist for Avengers 3 could be risky as people loved the character.
At the end of Avengers 2, the epic fight with Thanos ends with The Hulk crushing the Infinity Gauntlet and causing a huge explosion that makes it look like The Hulk was destroyed.........but then after the end credits, we see that the exploding Infinity Gauntlet really transported The Hulk to another planet...........Planet Hulk
That would be awesome. And this being Marvel, and not DC, it might actually happen...
Can we just have a movie where Tony Stark and Bruce Banner do the buddy scientist/superhero schtick, tossing around scientific jargon and witty quips and then causing massive collateral damage in the action scenes? I would watch the living crap out of that movie.
@rabidronnie He's a snarky multi-millionaire industrialist with a suit of high-tech armor.
He's a snarky physicist who turns into a giant lumbering rage monster.
Together... THEY FIGHT CRIME!
I would love to see a Planet HULK movie but for me it has to have the Silver Surfer not Beta Ray Bill like they did in the cartoon that pissed me off so bad. Planet HULK was good cause it made the Hulk smarter but not Banner smart and it made him strong but not ridiculously so.
@10glfan59 Bill replaced Radd in WWH's film because something about character rights being held by Fox (due to the F4 franchise, etc.). What I didn't get was why was Super Hero Squad able to have Surfer & the Fox Marvel heroes while having the Paramount ones at the same time... Anyways, the company that did WWH felt BRB was a good substitute and hadn't been used at all (the commentary/special features)/ hardly any (reality considering he was in the Surfer cartoon in the 90s).
Yes, the Silver Surfer's FILM rights are owned by Fox, but his TELEVISION rights are with Marvel Studios. There's a difference, depending on if something is developed for TV or as a feature. Super Hero Squad is a TV production, therefore it's not bound by the film rights but Marvel's TV rights.
I suspect they'll have to do the same thing for a Planet Hulk movie. We won't be seeing the Silver Surfer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe any time soon. However, there are a lot of cosmic characters out there, and others that Marvel could whip out for this purpose. Personally, I'd like to see Hyperion show up. It would be cool to see Marvel Studios "out-Superman" the upcoming WB Superman movie.
I don't see that happening. If they are dealing with Thanos They wouldn't have time to deal with Hulk in a third Avengers movie. Not to mention you will tick off just the movie Avengers' fans.
Now with that being said. There was a story line when I was a kid that had Hulk Rampage through the city until Doctor Strange sent him to another dimension. I can see a variation of that. Hulk gets sent to another dimension (or planet) through some doing of Thanos. This gives the Hulk a rage and destroy movie all his own as he gets back to Earth just in time for the Third Avengers movie.
I think if anything Avengers 3 won't be WWH and they'd probably adapt that into one film, and they'd do A3 as Civil War instead.
@Kozmik_Pariah Yeah, I'm not sure who is keeping score but nearly everything I hear from Latino Review falls into the categories of echoing, mildly competent guesswork, or (most frequently) completely bat guano speculation designed to drive site hits based on pure shock value - this falls into the last category.
@Gallen_Dugall @Kozmik_Pariah I'm keeping score. A lot of what they say falls exactly as you've called it, but their Marvel stuff has been dead-on so consistently that Marvel has actually gone after them, and that's why I link to that specifically.
@LYT @Gallen_Dugall @Kozmik_Pariah I'll take your word on that however my assumption is that anything for A3 is still in the spitball stage, and that Hulk would very much fall into the realm of "proposal" rather than commitment by Disney
on the other matter I've done a bit of refreshing of my memory as to the history of the History Channel's coverage of the Viking peoples in their fairly comprehensive past coverage within the two season "Barbarians: Vikings" series episode and the "Modern Marvels: Barbarian Tech" episode.
...if they don't actually say his character's name onscreen, they can have Patrick Stewart as part of the Illuminati, right?
@Ranchoth
Re: Patrick Stewart
Maybe. It depends on if he signed some contract that bars his likeness from appearing in other superhero movies. Believe it or not, some studio lawyers think of this stuff ahead of time.
I, for one, do NOT want the Sony and Fox versions to mix with the proper Marvel Cinematic Universe, because I think Sony and Fox versions SUCK and I don't want them to be MCU canon.
@Ranchoth They might be able to work something out too, that said. After all, they were THIS close to cross-pollinating Avengers and Amazing Spider-Man with Oscorp Tower and Stark Tower, and Mark Millar IS now working with Fox for their movies.
I think at this point both studios would be receptive to said cross-pollination, if only because the success of one is going to help the other succeed given they're both branded as Marvel films.
@GeneralTekno @Ranchoth You'd think this would be a logical move, that would only benefit Sony and Disney I mean happy fans wind up going to see things multiple times and all that. Of course this would mean movie producers actuallywould have to look past there pile of cocaine and imagine the pile+1 it could be.
@Ranchoth Yeah, why weren't Liv and Hugh running around in Captain America?
I watched most of Justice League series this weekend for the first time. DC really needs to follow that format - smash them all together in an introductory film firmly establishing the main characters and then spin off the characters into their own films where more characters will be introduced. They need this format to lock down the character interpretation to restrict the "creative" freedom of those morons who ultimately are going to make the films so they don't project onto the characters their daddy issues or marketing skewed re-imaginings or whatever other shallow nonsense passes for "art" in Hollywood.
oh and they should steal, reverse and totally one up Marvel end credits by putting one end credit set up clip for each of the character's stand alone films
