The only movie I've seen him in was Scorpion King 3, and the only thing I remember about his character was that Billy Zane outstaged everything in his path.
I know that wrestling isn't a topic loved by everyone here, so I was making a concerted effort to space things out and not bring up said topic again for a while. Really, I was.
But the universe had other plans. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the newly cast Drax the Destroyer in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy.

It's Dave Bautista, a.k.a. former WWE world champion "Batista." He's been acting for a while now in direct-to-DVD stuff and the recent Man with the Iron Fists.
I haven't seen him in any of those, but his slow-burn feud with Triple H was well-acted for what it was.

Forget the HHH feud, Batista as uber-douchebag (when he was wearing hilariously awful polo shirts each week) during the tail end of his WWE career was one of the greatest characters ever.
Of course, I highly suspect that he wasn't exactly stretching himself too much to play that role.
Typically, I'm not a huge fan of wrestlers crossing over into feature film acting, but I have no problem with this at all. As long as he does better than HHH in Blade Trinity, this should be great!
Drax isn't known for spilling out Shakespeare-like dialogue so I think Mr. Batista will be okay. I am hoping Drax is portrayed like Conan, except in space.
Here's a sample of his WWE acting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKyh_yxdB18
@ToplessRobot If James Gunn's Drax is Batista I've got the perfect Groot for him! pic.twitter.com\/l1OVg4Ujkejke
Physically it's a good match. If he can pull off the acting (and someone writes him right) I have no problem with this.
@Someguy the part will require more performance than acting so he should be good there - so long as teh part is written well, but you can say that about the entire movie
