given how when word broke that Disney was going to be making the other trilogy all the original cast members said they wanted to be a part. not surprised the first one officially saying yest is carrie must mean she has or is about to sign the deal even if she is just a mentor in the new films the golden bikini wonder if she would still be able to fit into it after all this time?

Who boldly got the scoop on this one? Palm Beach Illustrated, of course!
Disney is going to continue the Star Wars saga, producing movies set to hit theaters starting in 2015. Can you confirm whether you'll reprise the role of Princess Leia?
Yes.
No ambiguity there, though she does crack a few jokes about the specifics of the role.
Of course, this comes after what appeared to be a notable drug relapse on a cruise where she was booked as the entertainment, so let's hope she doesn't pull a Lohan on Lucasfilm.

More links from around the web!
@ Luke Thompson
Or you can just show her some respect. You know who else goes through drug relapse? A lot of people. Smart people. Unfortunate people. Sick people too. Continue to write the smart stuff that you do, man. But for crissake, don't pull a circlejerk comment like that.
@omarin If the only thing you are pulling out of this article is whether using the phrase "relapse" should be used as a humour mechanism then you have missed the point of the article...
Nope, I was referring to the Lohan comment. It's a low blow to her with typical "OH NO YOU DIDN'T" dissing.
@omarin yeah, i was a little surprised to have it called a drug relapse when even the link underneath it goes to an article that mentions previous mental illness. and even if it wasn't something like bi-polar, even if it was a drug relapse, it was not even close to any of the stuff lindsay has been documented as doing.
@earthmanny @omarin I'm sorry. But nothing in LYT's comments seems particularly offensive to me. Here's an excerpt from an essay Carrie Fisher herself wrote about her relationship to Leia.
"You always act the heroine; I snort the stuff in the feeble attempt to dim the glare of your intense, intergalactic antics. You take the glory; I give way to age. You: so physically well and well-meaning it makes me mentally ill—well, something does, anyway."
I know it's a humor piece but it pains me to see she struggles with both drugs AND mental illness.
Nothing would make me happier than to see a Leia and Solo centric story. If thier children can get kidnapped by Mel Gibson, and they have to hunt him down like a pair of Liam Neesons in Taken , even better!
My new hope is that the original cast is only there for cameos. Less connection with the Anakin arc the better since it has taken the EU forever to explain the incongruities that already exist in that story line without piling on more.
That said and due to a bunch of jerks from one reality invading another reality, and massively screwing up The Veil in the process, I'll be out and about tomorrow playing tourist in a war zone. Wish me luck - I also accept prayers; any denomination, sect or cult will do. Until my return I temporarily cede all my responsibilities as Resident Crazy Person to Doctor Abraxas, but everyone should feel free to help him out by being extra crazy. Take care and may the weak gravitational force be with you.
@Gallen_Dugall I SHALL DOUBLE MY EFFORTS!
in fact, i already beat you to the madness. what if i were to tell you all that I, your eldritch abomination, was a sitting juror??? is that not crazy enough???
@Gallen_Dugall When one reality invades another, the enemy is inevitably yourself. I really do not know you, but if you see yourself, run. Maybe run anyway. Good luck.
@louieatrest @Gallen_Dugall I don't have that problem. I'm the result of a low-probability event which means that I'm extremely vulnerable to paradoxes and alternate version of myself never exist in other realities.
@Gallen_Dugall Man, I never get to be the resident crazy! Oh well, back to clueless idiot.
It's getting harder and harder to want to sleep with Carrie Fisher just so I can say I fucked Princess Leia..........
@arivalscientist There are other ways......

@Timely-Tardis-Lego @arivalscientist
I could never be that Drunk As Fuck..............
I will believe it when somebody from Disney says "Yes Carrie Fisher is in the movie". Between the break down on that cruise, and her appearance on Craig Ferguson a month or so ago. I can confirm, that she is batshit crazy, thus not to be believed.
@myers72781 She is always a train wreck on Ferguson (best late night IMOP). I can't take my eyes off of the screen when she is on, I have never seen any shoot herion before and I think she is my best bet.
This movie is mostly Leia having to apologize to the Nerfhearder demographic for being insensitive to their traditional ways.
well this can only end with happiness and sunshine and possibly a jedi!ghost threesome with anakin/yoda/leia.
@Someguy @DrAbraxas i'm just saying - i mean, daddy killed mommy, cut off the son's arm, brother and sister incested, a mere threesome with ghosts and maybe a song number, well, isn't that what disney's all about???
@DrAbraxas @Someguy Well I guess you could have done worse.
Yeah this is the only original actor I have an issue with coming back...she's a train wreck.
I love Carrie Fisher as much as the next guy. And far be it from me to suggest that physical beauty is a thing we ought to hold foremost. But, here's what Disney is buying for Star Wars 7...
@James.k.Polk Makeup, CGI, more makeup, more CGI, even more makeup, new CGI techniques ... and more CGI.
But seriously, I love her and I'll take her!
Oh, you asked previously, and I'm in OKC, Mr President.
@Ford_Thundercougarfalconbird @James.k.Polk Are you assuming she would be part of the action?
@Ford_Thundercougarfalconbird @James.k.Polk used to live there. Once worked at a taco bueno just around the state fair grounds.
But I bet most people have no idea what a pain it is to fry those damn tortilla chips ever morning.
@Ford_Thundercougarfalconbird @James.k.Polk eh. It was twenty years ago. I'm still addicted to their food. Combination burrito with sour cream is the best fast food evar.
@James.k.Polk she has actually lost a lot of weight since then - it was a big deal at Celebration 5 which I only know about from pod casts about it. Apparently Mark Hamill had put on a lot of weight though - people described him as unrecognizable until he spoke.
Am I the only one disappointed by this? Disney should stay as far away from the original trilogy as they can get.
@troi I have no issue with them doing it with the original characters, so long as they don't recast..I think that would be a huge problem..they're too iconic. If you don't make it in the OT time line, with the originals or at least with them in as a cameo, I'd rather see something totally new..but if they make it set years down the road from Jedi, I think they could do it...the writers they have in I have confidence in and Abrams should do a far better job than Lucas.
@troi To me, if it's "Episode VII," it has to be a sequel to Episode VI in some way. Otherwise, call it something else.
@troi Well I want them to stay away from the old cast and do a fresh story. I'd like to believe that if they are going to be in it it will be quick shots setting up a timeline.
