I like both these guys, but Jeff Bridges is doing a really hammy accent. Can I put up with it for a whole movie? We'll see.
Oh jeez... even the fucking title screen looks like a ripoff of MiB!!!!
That looks like an incredibly fucking stupid execution of a good idea. Please tell me it's based on a comic or something that did it better so I can go read that instead.
This looks like the most smarmy annoying piece of shit movie I've ever seen.
So does anyone remember G vs E/Good vs Evil from back around 1999 on the Sci Fi Channel?
Who else think this would be much better if James Hong was the new partner and Ryan Reynolds his outward appearance?
It's like MiB meets Beetlejuice or Ghostbusters. I am kinda bothered by how MiB it is. It's like too polished. I'd prefer a more lower level working schlub Ghostbusters or BPRD approach. Hell, even the movie BPRD in the Hellboy films got a nifty kinda 1950s polished sci fi look and they put agents in suits instead of more combat work clothes like in the books.
Though this does seem to retain the working local cop aesthetic instead of the suited up Feds aesthetic.
Plus it sure looks like it is set and filmed in Boston. Hell, I am pretty sure that's the Hynes Convention Center where Boston Comic Con is going to be this weekend.
Heck, if I knew the comic was set in Boston, I would have grabbed it. Then again, I dunno if it was or if that's just for the movie. I know they moved The Surrogates from Atlanta to Boston when they made the movie. Kinda bugs me as a comics purist.. but still kinda neat to see films filmed here.
Is this based off of a comic, book or manga? It looks like it could be good.
I'm surprised nobody has pointed out the parallels with Reaper. That was the first thing that came to mind.
I like the accent, and this looks like it could be pretty fun.
... Well, iIlike it.
That accent Jeff Bridges has is exactly the same as his voice in True Grit. I'm not familiar with the comic but the fact that people see him as someone else will probably irritate me.
Anyone read the comic?
I'm more interested in this than Star: Trek into Darkness
Pretty much a MIB ripoff but definitely a watch.
Oh, Jeff Bridges' response
@chrisward99 It's Ryan Reynolds. I don't think he can un-smarm.
Dead Like Me, Reaper, Brimstone, Spawn...
Cop or bounty hunter paroling for the souls that escape hell or the afterlife isn't all that unique a concept.
Er, Dead Like Me, not Reaper. Whoops.
@-paulc- Is it any good?
@Ford_Thundercougarfalconbird Just saw a Mazda 6 commercial that doing the joint promotion commercial with Star Trek. Still not excited about either product.
@Someguy Now in GIF form!
@Someguy @-paulc- No clue...
@Canadian.Scott @Someguy Everyone's challenge to get the gif and video to play in symmetry.
