Donovan Santiago, artist, on Archer & Armstrong:

“These were some of the biggest characters, pixel-wise, that I have worked with. Most people would think this is harder, but it’s actually the opposite. It’s far more difficult to make something ten pixels tall look like what you intended. Covers are something I’ve always dreamed of doing and working with Valiant has been a blast!”

Matthew Waite, artist:

“[A] first person shooter…is the first thing I think of when I think of a Bloodshot game, and who would not want to play Harbinger Kart…with insane powers.”

Santiago:

“To me comic books and video games are like peanut butter and jelly. I killed off many summer days with that sandwich. With this X-O Manowar cover, I really wanted to push myself with the Pixel Art medium by turning the blocks into the pixels themselves. This hurt my brain and took a few tries to get it right.”

All these books are out in October. But if you want to guarantee yourself a set (plus those bonus TPBs), you can try to win them today.

The contest rules kinda suggest themselves, don’t they? Take any pop-culture icon of your choosing and turn it into an ad/cover/screenshot of an 8 or 16-bit game. Post it in comments below (the image must show up in the comments thread).

Enter as many times as you like; contest closes July 8th, the Monday after the 4th, at 12:01 a.m. By entering, you grant TR the right to use the image you create for promotional purposes on this site and its social media feeds.
