Wanna see some footage of Jamie Foxx as Electro?
Of course you do. Hit the jump to take a look.
Looks really good. So much better than anything in Raimi's movies.
The lameness is truly astounding.
Was I the only one mouthing the opening to the LOTR trilogy along with this?I feel it in the earth...I smell it in the air...
!!! Sucks !!!
Will you people PLEASE stop paying to see Amazing Sony-Man movies? Maybe, just MAYBE, if Sony stops making back their money on the Spider-Man film rights, we can see Marvel Studios actually get a crack at their premier character and treat him right for once.
That's just stupid.
yknow, I was one of the people who actually enjoyed tasm, and seeing so many people unwilling to even give the first one a chance is absurd. I thought the film was a decent attempt at restarting the franchise, and had more than enough good things to outweigh the problems. its frustrating to see so much cynicism from you guys sometimes.
*watches the preview*
.........ooooohhhhhhh. ooooh noooo.
I'm still on the fence about this new version of Electro. This new look isn't wowing me, but it's better then the classic "pointy lightning mask" look from the comics.
" Ice to see yew Ehlehctlo".......Mr. Freeze
I cant take this Spiderman reboot seriously.
From Garfield saying "I have no problem with Peter being Gay".
To everything coming from Animals.
He seriously wants MJ to be a guy.
Save it for a comic book reboot, or a fanfic, or something else.
You dont restart a movie franchise. Something almost everyone knows about, and drop a bomb like that.
That is the reason I have not watched this spiderman reboot.
Plus I think Raimi's Spiderman was Awesome. Just to many spoons in the pot stirring.
"Disclamer:: I am not against anything LGBT."
Anyone else suddenly think of Infamous' Cole versus Spiderman after watching this? Anyone?
So is his powers in this movie going to be electrical experiment gives him electrical powers or gene splicing with a electric eel does it?
Unless he changes how he looks in the movie, he didn't look threatening, cool, or scary. Just weird. Kind of important considering they just centered a sneak peak trailer around him. Not making a statement about the movie (I liked the previous one), just this particular teaser.
I wish you all every success, but I won't be joining you. I'll sit here quietly and wait for the next reboot.
I haven't see Amazing Spiderman but judging by this clip...swing and a miss.
. . . Did he seriously just rhyme??
+20 points for, again, sounding like a genuinely "bad guy" villain rather than a "misunderstood monster"
-30000000000 points for looking AND sounding ridiculous.
What the fuck?
@DylanRaishe Not a clue why anyone is saying "oooh nooo", particularly not someone who enjoyed the first movie. Jamie Foxx looks like he's going to be amazing as Electro.
He hasn't had that mask for years, now.
@arivalscientist Watching that was as painful as electro-lysis.
@JimmyBonesEverything coming from animals comes FROM the comics. There's this character called Ezekiel for whom it became an important point. If the movies are going to go in their own direction AWAY from the comics mind you, the idea of Peter Parker as bisexual was quite inspired. It's a pity the studio won't have the guts to try it. Sexuality is clearly an important part of growing up and that's an important part of Spider-Man. And after all, the Amazing Spider-Man movies are rebooting the movie series.
As for MJ, there's been such stupid trolling around who is going to play the character that saying "well how about a super attractive MAN then?" seems like a perfectly reasonable response.
"That is the reason I have not watched this spiderman reboot." - You didn't even WATCH the original movie? No wonder you don't sound like you have a clue what you are talking about. "Plus I think Raimi's Spiderman was Awesome" - Good for you. Those (dreadful) movies are still available for you to watch. Have fun... Raimi's not coming back to make another Spider-Man movie so he's completely irrelevant to this movie under discussion...
I got the impression that Garfield was joking/trolling with those statements. In particular, his suggestion that MJ could be played by Michael B Jordan seemed like a nod to the recent controversy over the rumor that Jordan is being considered for the Human Torch.
@JimmyBones "Peter" is just the nickname Garfield gave his peter.
@JimmyBones I personally don't have issues with his sexual orientation, just the way it'd be handled.I'd expect them to add it in in an awkward way and it'd slow down the pacing of the movie. But you know, if it does happen, here's hoping for the best. Also, I haven't seen the first one, but wouldn't that have made better sense to do this in the first one, seems like a badly introduced retcon if it's done by now
@JimmyBones I agree about the statements of Peter being experimental with his sexuallity. Retconning characters to be bi-sexual, or gay I have issues with, even if the characters are not that well known.
I still think Spider-man 2 is a high mark in comic book super-hero movies, but studio pressure to include Venom didn't help at all. Neither did the retconning that Flint Marko/Sandman killed Uncle Ben, and Peter just forgives him, that was a idiotic twist on the Spider-man lore, that was unnecessary, and fractured the support that Raimi had set up.
Rupert Grint for Marcus James Watson!!!!
@10glfan59 As much as I liked the Spectacular Spiderman cartoon, the electric eel origin felt so silly. I don't know if it is an established old origin for Electro, but it does sound like the goofy kind of thing you would expect from the olden silver (or was it gold... one of them was goofy and weird) age of comics.
Good. Some people are doing the right thing and avoiding Sony's crappy cash-in.
This series is Spider-Man in name only. It's worse than One More Day.
@Bearr Don't encourage them...this is why I haven't watched Amazing Spiderman and Man of Steel, I can't handle a retread of the same story over and over again.
@Canadian.Scott this helps prevent any desire on my part to see Amazing Spiderman
@Canadian.Scott Its hilariously bad. Like, I literally started laughing at one point that was meant to be all serious. Nobody reacts to anything like a normal person.
@rabidronnie Looking rediculous? You mean he wasn't supposed to look like someone in a Arnold Scharzenegger Mr.Freeze mask? and I thought the voice was just an homage to Christian Bale's Batman.
@nix.nightbird @GreggoryBasore That picture still shows him with the same jagged electric shocks design. It's just that it's on his face rather than sticking out of it. Still looks pretty lame to me...
@nix.nightbird@GreggoryBasore When Marvel started to shift their "movieverse" from the Ultimate comics to their main comics a while back they slowly started to morph main Electro into a design very similar to his Ultimate counterpart. One can easily imagine why...lol...
@CoolBirdBoy @arivalscientist I feel there is a... spark... between us.
@fatpie42@JimmyBonesTo answer your question fatpie42. I did not see it cause "and this is personal, but I dont see how you would give two shits about anything that did not involve you." Garfield sucks. Now dont get me wrong Toby sucked also. So to boil it down. I liked the humor in Raimi's version. It ran more like a comic would. Now to answer this. . . ""Plus I think Raimi's Spiderman was Awesome" - Good for you. Those
(dreadful) movies are still available for you to watch. Have fun...
Raimi's not coming back to make another Spider-Man movie so he's
completely irrelevant to this movie under discussion..."FOX is the one that runs the show. Thats why there was a reboot. They did not want Marvel/Disney to get it back. Same with XMEN and Wolverine. So you can say he is a bad director, but it was FOX telling him what he had to do. Thats why Spiderman 3 Sucked Ass. and Raimi left.
@Timely-Tardis-Lego @JimmyBones The homosexuality makes more sense for Peter Parker as the stigma of being a nerd has diminished over the years it's the closest thing left. Certainly being "Spider Bro Man" doesn't even come close. Also acceptable would be a devout christian or some such.
The reason I was thinking gene splicing is the spider-man is the lizard is and the rhino in this movie is. That would work for a lot of spidey villains.
@Canadian.Scott @Bearr Retread or not Man of Steel was well worth seeing to me. Yeah I know the origin story, but that doesn't mean I don't like seeing an improved version of it. Plus that last Superman origin movie is very old at this point, and feels rather silly to watch by today's standards.
Spiderman I feel a bit differently. They didn't give it quite enough time before deciding to restart it. It felt too close to the last movie when they did it.
@Canadian.Scott @Bearr I'm with you. To me, it's part laziness and part unwillingness to try something new and potentially risky. It's a lot easier to rehash and follow familiar beats then try and come up with something different.
Parker doesn't act like Parker. He acts like a fricking idiot and a jerk. He basically gives away his identity to the entire school through macho acts and outright stupidity, and acts like a bro through most of the movie. The Amazing Sony-Man is what would have happened if Peter Parker were a fratboy douchebag instead of a science nerd.
@kegs@rabidronniehe looks more like an arnold scharzeneggers Mr. Freeze evils sidekick " neon slush puppy" or "lilac freezy pop"
@JimmyBones @fatpie42 Wasn't able to comment at the time because all the comments randomly disappeared.I won't give two shits about your opinion about a movie that you never saw. You can't possibly know whether Garfield sucks or not if you've never seen him perform.FOX produced all of Sam Raimi's movies. I guess they must have learnt from their mistakes because the new one was a lot better. Not that you'd know, having not seen it yet.
(After quick google search) wow that sounds fun I am going to pick that up. After reading that I am going with eel.
@10glfan59 Oh that's right. This version of Spiderman focuses a lot on the gene splicing creating villains. Don't know if you played the video game tie-in (it was pretty good actually), but it focuses really heavily on a lot of the villains being a gene spliced enemy (Scorpion, Rhino, Vermin, which is rat villain I never knew existed).
@js16nite @Canadian.Scott @Bearr For all my issues with Man of Steel, how they handled the origin story wasn't one of them. They made it a bit more than just "baby gets sent to Earth, is super", which was nice.
@PCabezuelo @Canadian.Scott @Bearr My opinion is okay if it's been 20 years since the movie came out, okay. But if you don't know the origin stories by now, please don't go to this movie.
@nix.nightbird @Gallen_Dugall @Canadian.Scott Peter Parker has always been a flawed hero. That's what makes him special. He's a flawed human being, not a god-like moraliser. He has to make mistakes in order to learn from them.
