Beer Flavored Jelly Beans, for People Who Hate Alcohol and Drinkability

I enjoy beer. I enjoy jelly beans. I’m happy to keep the two entirely separate, like, say, sex and ice cream. But that’s just not enough for some people.

Jelly Belly has now combined everything you love about their jellybeans – chewiness and uncannily accurate sense of flavor – with nothing you like about beer, to create what the LA Times describes as being

…like sweet beer, with “notes of wheat” even. But their aroma is more than “mildly bready.” They smell like sour mash. The smell of fermentation might be off-putting enough to make you wonder whether it’s one of Jelly Belly’s “BeanBoozled” flavors (remember canned dog food and skunk spray?).

I’m not above the odd hipster beer float, so it’s not as if I’m a total purist here – I’ve been pushing for a Jack & Coke sorbet as long as I can remember. But sour, fermented jellybeans…it just seems like a Bertie Bott trick. And I’ll bet you boba beer is next.
