Today in Batman: Arkham Knight Game Announced, TV’s Young Bruce and Selina Cast

Via a non-embeddable trailer at Game Informer, and a DC All Access video that has apparently been removed by the user right after they sent me an email asking me to post it, comes a look at the new Arkham game, which initially seems to begin like The Dark Knight Rises, with an asthmatic, raspy metal voice I presume to be Bane and a crowded bridge. And in a touch I really wish had been left behind to the cinematic past, this Batman appears to have the magic disappearing black paint around his eyes.

(Andolini in comments below has posted an embeddable version, so just keep scrolling down to see)

Looks like a pretty epic scope, though. And you can drive the Batmobile…or play as Harley Quinn. Now, in TV news…

WB really, really doesn’t want us to call Gotham a Batman TV show. From the press release:

David Mazouz (Touch) has been cast as the preteen Bruce Wayne, sentenced to a solitary life after the tragic murder of his wealthy parents. Serious and soulful, young Bruce relies on the guidance and protection of Alfred Pennyworth and James Gordon.

(Note: As has been reported previously, GOTHAM is the origin story of Commissioner James Gordon and not a “Batman” show. Please note for stories that David is playing the young Bruce Wayne — not Batman.)

? Acting newcomer Camren Bicondova has been cast as Selina Kyle, a teenage orphan who is suspicious and wholly unpredictable. A street thief and skilled pickpocket, she’s dangerous when cornered.

Because, you know, it will obviously be a much bigger hit if we only talk about it as a cop show totally unrelated to the most popular superhero there is, that would absolutely have been greenlit on its own merits if “Bruce Wayne” had been renamed “Larry Blamire.”
