Yep, Channing Tatum Is the Next Gambit

Producer Lauren Shuler Donner reveals it in a video below. Word is he’ll debut briefly in the next X-Men movie, then get his own film.

I’m not opposed to erasing X-Men Origins: Wolverine from continuity, nor, I imagine, are most fans and filmmakers – its young White Queen and Professor X walking have already been retconned by subsequent films, and we’re all hoping that its version of Deadpool will be. But I’m sorry to see Taylor Kitsch go…I know post John Carter and Battleship it’s cool to pile on him, but I’ve always liked the guy.

Tatum as a superhero was inevitable, and one who can be a smartass even more so. I think Shuler Donner is off the mark, though, when she says, “He’s not from New Orleans but he is a Southerner, he understands that world.” Yeah. Hi. I’m a Southerner too, but New Orleans is totally its own thing, and not remotely like Appalachia, for example. Ask a mountain hillbilly outside Louisiana how they feel about people who speak French…it ain’t always pretty, mon cheri.
