Now bring back Young Justice

At the Milestone panel yesterday, Reggie Hudlin, Denys Cowan and Jim Lee announced a renewed partnership between Milestone Media and DC Comics. The Dakota Universe will be brought into the new DC Multiverse as “Earth M,” and will have two hardcover graphic novels published each year. The first two will be by Hudlin, Cowan, Lee and DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns. This is awesome news.

Milestone was founded in 1993 by Derek Dingle, Dwayne McDuffie, Cowan and Michael Davis as a way to increase minority representation in superhero comics. Despite being 20 years ahead of the curve as a publishing goal, they created several long-lasting characters like Static, Icon and Hardware. Before they stopped publishing new comics, they managed to put out between 40 and 50 issues of several series, laid the groundwork for Static, Hardware, Icon and Rocket to appear in several cartoons, and are credited with launching the careers of some incredible talents like JH Williams III, Jamal Igle, Tommy Lee Edwards and Humberto Ramos.

Stay tuned to Topless Robot when these books start to come out, because I’ve already shown I’ll buy anything Cowan does, so I’m going to be all over these books.
