We’re following sources both official and otherwise to let you know what Disney is announcing.

Image of Dr. Strange has been shown but not released to those of us not there yet. Multiple sources describe him as looking monk-like.

The Hollywood Reporter describes the Captain America: Civil War trailer:

It began with Falcoln [sic]and Black Widow are working with Captain America, to take down Crossbones (Frank Grillo) n a crowded urban environment.

“You know, he remembered you. You’re pal, your buddy, your Bucky,” says Crossbones to a confused Cap.

It cuts to a speech from General Thunderbolt Ross (William Hurt), who lecutres Cap in Avengers headquarters.

“The world owes you an unpayable debt. A lot great many people see you as a hero,” says Ross. “There are some who prefer the word vigilante. People are afraid.”

The biggest applause came from this line from Iron Man to Captain America, who are arguing about the ethics of being a superhero: “Sometimes I want to punch you in your perfect teeth.

It’s about ethics in super-heroism? Ironically, there is a type of ant called a gamergate, so Paul Rudd might have something to say there.

Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

The movie stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Frank Grillo, Tom Holland, with William Hurt and Daniel Br?hl. Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” is directed by Anthony & Joe Russo and produced by Kevin Feige. Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Victoria Alonso, Patricia Whitcher, Nate Moore and Stan Lee serve as executive producers and the screenplay is by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely. Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” opens in the U.S. on May 6, 2016.

And the first image they officially release is of Chris Pine and Holliday Grainger in The Finest Hours, which literally nobody reading cares about.

Hmm. Turns out it’s a 3D Imax movie about rescuing the crews of crashed oil tankers. Might be good.

Oh hai new Jungle Book poster…

newjunglebookposter.jpg

The Wrap describes the footage shown:

The trailer opens with the smoky voice of Scarlett Johansson’s Kaa the Python talking about the Red Flower, which brings “warmth, light and destruction.”

Bagheera finds Mowgli and we’re told that “the jungle is no longer safe. I’ll return him to where he belongs.”

We see Idris Elba’s killer tiger Shere Khan stalking Mowgli through the outback in a thriller sequence that ends with him jumping off a cliff, after which he’s discovered by Bill Murray’s Baloo the Bear. Baloo tells Mowgli to “relax” and that “there’s no need to get worked up.” Then he sings the classic Disney song “Bare Necessities,” a song about “the good life,” though Mowgli confesses he doesn’t know what a song is. “Everyone’s got a song,” Baloo assures him. As the trailer nears its end, we see Shere Khan warning Mowgli that “if you come back, I’ll be waiting,” before the footage concludes with Christopher Walken’s orangutan King Louie saying “I am the king!” — which brought the house down.

Based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s 1967 animated classic, the film features state-of the-art technology that immerses audiences in the lush world like never before. “The Jungle Book” also features the voices of Bill Murray, Idris Elba, Scarlett Johansson, Giancarlo Esposito and Christopher Walken. Jon Favreau and Brigham Taylor produce and the screenplay is by Justin Marks. “The Jungle Book” hits theaters in stunning 3D and IMAX 3D on April 15, 2016.

I don’t care about this, but if I did I would hate it:

Director James Bobin brings his own unique vision to the spectacular world Tim Burton created on screen in 2010 with “Alice in Wonderland,” in which Alice (Wasikowska) returns to the whimsical world of Underland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter. The film, which once again features Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and the voices of Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen and Timothy Spall, introduces several new characters as well: Zanik Hightopp (Rhys Ifans), the Mad Hatter’s father, and Time himself (Sacha Baron Cohen), a peculiar creature who is part human, part clock.

Joe Roth, Suzanne Todd and Jennifer Todd, and Tim Burton produce and John G. Scotti is the executive producer. The screenplay is by Linda Woolverton. Presented in Digital 3D?, Real D 3D and IMAX? 3D, Disney’s “Alice Through the Looking Glass” opens in U.S. theaters on May 27, 2016.

In addition to attending the film’s presentation in Hall D23 at the Convention Center, fans had the opportunity to transform themselves into their favorite characters from Underland with an interactive experience, Travel Through the Looking Glass. By means of a first-to-market face-tracking application, D23 EXPO participants entering one of four photo booths located on the show floor were able to become the Mad Hatter, the Red Queen, the White Rabbit or the Cheshire Cat with full digital-makeup and cinematic 3D objects seamlessly–and instantly–applied to their reflections, and in real time. They were then emailed a 10-second video and still image, which they could share on their favorite social media platforms.

Here’s the official logo for the live-action Pete’s Dragon.

…a reimagining of Disney’s cherished family film. The heartwarming adventure of an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliott, who just so happens to be a dragon, “Pete’s Dragon” is directed by David Lowery, produced by Jim Whitaker, and executive-produced by Barrie Osborne, and also stars Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence and Robert Redford. “Pete’s Dragon” opens in U.S. theaters on August 12, 2016.

Orlando Bloom will be back in the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Because really, what else does he have going for him now that Peter Jackson milked Middle-earth dry?

Sounds like Geoffrey Rush is back too.

Todd McFarlane wants his Curse of the Spawn back, Pirates…

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.
The film is directed by Espen Sandberg & Joachim R?nning and stars Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites, Kevin R. McNally, Kaya Scodelario, Golshifteh Farahani, Stephen Graham, David Wenham and Geoffrey Rush. Jerry Bruckheimer is the producer and Chad Oman, Mike Stenson, Joe Caracciolo, Jr. and Brigham Taylor serve as executive producers. Jeff Nathanson wrote the screenplay. “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” releases in U.S. theaters on July 7, 2017.

Colin Trevorrow is confirmed as the director of Star Wars: Episode IX, as originally reported by Heroic Hollywood back at Comic-Con. Not sure how to feel about that – I think Jurassic World is a very fun spectacle movie that probably won’t hold up to the kind of scrutiny a Star Wars movie gets from folks like me, and I wasn’t big on Safety Not Guaranteed.

Looks like they might be dropping the “Anthology” branding on Rogue One and other spinoffs in favor of “A Star Wars story”

First ROGUE ONE image! Giving that its own post above too.

Disneyland is adding a 14-acre Star Wars land, and it will include a Millennium Falcon ride and an Episode VII ride. Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida is also getting one.

These authentic lands will have two signature attractions. Along with the thrilling battle experience, another attraction puts guests behind the controls of one of the most recognizable ships in the galaxy, the Millennium Falcon, as they take on a customized secret mission.
