NBC Greenlights Pilot for a Sitcom Set in the DC Universe

This is a weird one.

Based on characters from DC Comics, Powerless is a workplace comedy set at one of the worst insurance companies in America — with the twist being that it also takes place in the universe of DC Comics. The show is about the reality of working life for a normal, powerless person in a world of superheroes and villains.

Ironically, Powerless was previously the name of a Marvel miniseries, in which a man awakens from a coma to find he hallucinated the whole Marvel Universe, with himself as the Watcher. That wouldn’t be a bad pitch for a TV series in and of itself.

NBC currently doesn’t have any of the other DC live-action shows, which means that the likelihood for crossover is low, as is the likelihood of using any of the same characters that are already on those shows, to avoid confusion. Yet it also sounds like the major movie heavy-hitters are off-limits too. Color me very curious about how this turns out.

Who wants to bet that at least one comic-book character on the show will be played by Patrick Warburton at some point?
