DVD Day: June 14th, 2011

?? Battle: Los Angeles
I heard this is about a battle in Los Angeles. Can anyone back this up?

? Haven: The Complete First Season
I think this SyFy sci-fi series is like Eureka crossed with X-Files. As always, I am too lazy to do a simple Google search to find out.

? Dance in the Vampire Bund: Complete Series
It’s been a long time since an anime series made it to Amazon’s top 10 of the week, so I figured I’d give this thing a mention. So… underage lolita vampires, eh? Good to know the anime industry is still willing to innovate.

? Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Ultimate Editions
Remember, the Ultimate Editions are the ones fat-packed with extras. Of course, if you can wait a few months until Deathly Horcrux 2 comes out, along with the rest of the Ultimate Editions, you can get them all in one set.

? Doctor Who: Frontios and Time and the Rani
I don’t know about “Frontios,” but “Time and the Rani” is a pretty popular episode, right? Or at least well-known? God, I have Google right here. I’m typing in a goddamned internet browser with a Google search bar on the upper right. What the hell.

? Supernatural: The Complete Second Season
On Blu-ray. Because there’s a market for high-def Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, and I don’t need Google to tell me that.

? Heavy Metal
On Blu-ray. Oddly, this is the first thing on today’s DVD list I’ve actually seen.

? Spider-Woman: Agent of S.W.O.R.D.
Also oddly, this is the only other thing on today’s DVD list I’ve seen. I didn’t plan to run today’s Motion Comics list because of this, but I’ll back Chris up and say Spider-Woman here is pretty groovy. I’m not a big motion comic fan either, but the art is good enough that it’s still enjoyable, with great voices and a solid, compact plot. You could do worse.

? Johnny Mnemonic
On Blu-ray. Yes, this means I haven’t ever seen Johnny Mnemonic. But the movie’s powerful Dina Meyer-Ice T combination will probably change that.

? Legend of the First: Return of Chen Zhen
This is the big budget movie sequel to the hit 1995 martial arts show, with Donnie Yen (of Ip Man fame) reprising the role, which Bruce Lee played in Fist of Fury. Yes, I did look this up in Google, I think just to be a bitch. What’s wrong with me?

? The Incredible Hulk: An XXX Porn Parody
A parody of the Bill Bixby/Lou Ferrigno show, obviously. The SFW trailer is here. Question: Do ladies have the same Orion Slave Girl fetish guys do? Does the idea of a good-looking man painted green turn you girls on?
