Red Dwarf Is Comin’ Home
Those rumored Red Dwarf specials? There are indeed coming…to Earth, specifically. Sez the BBC:
The show has been resurrected by digital channel Dave for a two-part
Easter weekend special, which sees the cast finally return to Earth.
…The new two-part series Red Dwarf: Back to Earth will be followed by
a “no holds barred” episode without sets, special effects or autocue.The weekend will climax with Red Dwarf: the Making of Back to Earth, a behind-the-scenes special from the new episodes.
Hurm. While I’m happy about the two-parter, that “no holds barred” episode sounds iffy to me. Is it like a “very special episode?” One of those weird, serious episodes that comedies like Red Dwarf always seem to do, even though the fans never want them to? I guess the Red Dwarf makers have earned the benefit of the doubt. But if I see Rimmer cry once, without the King of the Potato People being involved, I’m writing a very stern letter to Gordon Brown.
