Watch. Learn. Cower in fear that these penguins don't just swim, they fly. And then someone needs to get to work on making some robotic fish as soon as humanly fucking possible, or we're all dead men. (Via Geekologie)

Skynet is online and their name is Festo
-
This would perfectly explain why Lovecraft described penguins as completely evil creatures.
-
I would really like one of those floating/flying penguins for my birthday. Also at home 3D printing AWESOME!
-
No one will expect it when the next school shooting will involve an emotionally deranged and depressed teenager armed with AN ARMY OF CUBE ROBOTS.
-
The penguins are more floating than flying, probably held up with helium or some such air buoyant gas. So not to worry, probably could be taken down with a decent air rifle. But when we are required to get chipped for consumer purchasing, the homing devices will be included. Wouldn't mind setting up some track on my ceiling though to put one of those light bulb changing robots to work. Come to think of it, maybe the dolphins that recently stopped some Chinese merchant ships weren't quite organic after all. Technology is generally far more advanced than what is released to the public eye.

No, no, no, no. Why did it have to be penguins? Sweet, innocent penguins. Is nothing sacred?
-
I don't understand why they're doing this but its awesome O_O
-
The penguins are great, but didn't catch the part about us being able to possibly PRINT OUT CHOCOLATE COOKIES? The future has come, my friends. The future has come.
-
I love the flying penguins. I'd love to see some of those at a tech museum, just floating around the atrium. Hell, put them in the rotunda of the Guggenheim.
-
Maybe it's been awhile since I've seen the movie, but doesn't the interior of Festo look a little bit like the corporate building in I, Robot? Just as long as they don't name any of the penguins Sonny...
-
Mankind's destruction has never been so damn pretty. Am I the only one who thinks the sky-penguins are amazing? The little kid part of me that always believes special effects are real went crazy when I saw ACTUAL FLYING ROBOTS. Hail, O Finny Masters! ...also, Festo Corporation already has the perfect sci-fi disaster name. Give it a decade, and it could be right up there with SkyNet and Umbrella Corp.
-
These are going to be available for purchase Xmas 2009 right?
-
Innermonkey, Either that or the now-autonomous stolen head of Philip K. Dick is behind all this and is intending to conquer the world with his army of robot penguins. "Aww, lookit all those penguins! Aren't they cute? Wait? Why's it eating that guy's spleen? Oh god, I have to get out of here, I have to... oh, the penguin slipped on that guy's guts and fell! So cute! So...araaaragh!" *Splortch*
-
Why do I get the impression that Philip K Dick is looking down from somewhere, shaking his head and saying "I told you so"?
-
Wait, these robots are autonomous? Dear Lord, they could go rogue at any second and kill us all!
-
Robot fish, robot penguins...how long is it before we're completely entrenched in MegaMan land?
-
@JOE Clearly we did not. We are sad, sad fools.
-
They've had robot fish for a while now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eO9oseiCTdk
-
My thought EXACTLY Bookfisher. Now, if they suddenly turn red and all come straight at you - now THAT'S comedy.
-
You got to admit the wicked sense of humor, these scientist have, "the robopenguin moves eerie naturelike lets put blueglowing termintoreyes on it"
-
Did we learn nothing from Batman Returns?
-
"3-D Printing...Porno just got more realz." -Festo. So, it's not too weird to expect a small town being tested by a FestoCorp B.O.W., but no one finds out about it because the lab blew up, and no one believes the three elite task force members that barely escaped with their lives ...right?
-
Matt, no that's ok, penguins still can't fly. Horrifying acts of man that violate the laws of nature and which will bring hovering penguin doom down upon us all, however, can.
-
April 22, 2009 at 11:30am... Festo core systems became self aware... the cyborg-penguin invasion soon followed.
-
Great. Just great. I just spent the weekend explaining to my daughter that penguins can't fly. Now I have to go admit to her I'm wrong.
