Even though we're clearly in for a heavy-handed political metaphor this still looks entertaining.

It looks like it could be interesting. But on the other hand, I'm getting really tired of overly blatent allagories about racisim or other discrimination. Saying racisim is bad, in 2009, isn't the most hard hitting social activism.

I'm sure everything changes the moment that the aliens realize after months of living in their poor slum camps...

Great, I've only just seen District 13 and now I find out it was the thirteenth part of a series. Its just like those Friday movies all over again. I still haven't seen the first twelve.

So they are stuck in a guarded camp, and yet they have the tech for interplanetary flight. I have an odd feeling this is going to end badly for the humans, I am thinking E.T meets the Preditor.

I look forward to the comuppence. Also I hope they don't have the blurred out faces on the aliens in the movie. I won't stand for that unless they all sound like ALF

I'd assume it's like Alien Nation. They probably aren't being missed on their homeworld, so nobody's coming to pick them up.

As for the blurred faces, I think that was just because it was an interrogation video. I doubt they're blurred the entire movie.

Maybe their heads are actually vaginas and the men of the world don’t want them to leave and women hate them because they are no longer needed.
Also he needs to start working on Meet the Feebles 2. Now that I’d pay to see.

Neil Blomkamp directed the relatively awesome HALO "arms race" shorts from a little while back. Hopefully after seeing this movie Peter Jackson will get the green light for the HALO film (trash talking 9 year olds around the world rejoice).

This looks really interesting. I'll obviously be rooting for this as a South African, but it'll interesting how it's received there...

I have to go with Emerson999 on this one. This seems pointless. Especially in light of the fact that we'd more likely find some of the bugs that were willing to help us integrate their technology, and once we were done with that, it would be wholesale slaughter time.

I also noticed the fact that everyone has an accent - I think it's South African (but it could be New Zealand). This adds to Skyrocket's heavy-handed political metaphor, but also allows an American audience to say: "Well, THOSE people would do such a thing, but WE'RE better than that."

The FX look cool, but I'll full up on morality tales, thanks.

Oh boy, a movie with a message. You don't see many of those nowadays ... ;)

This looks pretty sweet. Teaches people not to be racist to our E.T. friends when they eventually reveal themselves :-D. If humans have the capacity to hate and kill one another for centuries, god knows what would happen if E.T.'s were revealed to be quite real.

Like in the vain of Ender's Game, horrible, needless Xenocide.

The accents are indeed South African. It's based on a short film by Blomkamp called Alive in Joburg (Joburg being a shortening of Johannesburg where it takes place). Apparently this is set after that though. I suspect the movie'll make references to Apartheid history, which could be interesting, but would probably fly over most international audience heads.

Hey, you know why it's yet another movie about racism? BECAUSE RACISM STILL EXISTS. I think this looks great. I love how the alien's face is digitized to obscure its identity, especially when I expect someone in the movie to say "they all look alike to me."

I just hope the aliens don't look as insect-like as the pixelation makes them appear. I hate insect-looking aliens.

well if it's like the short film all the alien's faces are going to be pixelated.

The site, does at least give some reason why they have to be forced to stay in there slums. Diseases prevention, since nither can have any immunety to each other verson of the flu.

yeah it looks like a fleshed out alive I just hope alive isn't the better of the two as often the case when hollywood gets ahold of a good idea
