Seriously, 4Kids is making a cartoon Ninja Turtle crossover cartoon movie for reasons I cannot understand. 4Kids is teasing the project with "intercepted" images like of old-school April O'Neil above; and you can see a tiny clip of the movie somewhere in this otherwise boring promo video. I don't even think the two groups of Turtles are different enough to actually generate any conflict, although if you check out this pic of old-school Rocksteady and Bebop, which is you click on it gives you an MP3 of new Shredder getting kind of irked that another Shredder is running around his turf, which could be interesting.
Still, I don't get it. Now, if they had paired up the cartoon Turtles with their original comic brethern? That would be something. Something violent, probably, and thus I would have been very interested. anyways, 4Kids is supposedly debuting this thing at SDCC, so if I can attend the panel, I'll let you guys know what's up. Thanks to Mark P. for the tip.

Cool! I hope they bring back the whole original voice cast, including James Avery (Uncle Phil!) as Shredder!

I'm kinda of the demographic that would be at least curious about this. Hell, if I had a six year old kid it'd be something to watch with them. I'm too young to be talking like this.

They need to use a lame villain like Don Turtelli. Everyone would be expecting Shredder and/or Krang, so it would be the perfect swerve!

No offense but I don't think you really watched both groups of Turtles if you don't think they're that different. The 2003 turtles were much more like the original comic book turtles you mentioned than they were the 80s cartoon ones. Crossing these two groups of turtles is a great idea. Some fans only love the original turtles and find the old cartoon too kiddie. Others grew up on the old cartoon and don't realize how serious they once were.
Many more fans like all groups of turtles for different reasons. Seeing ANY of them cross over is a great idea. I for one am all for this.

Wait. I just found something I don't like about this crossover.
In that picture of Bebop and Rocksteady they're holding each other's guns based on the original toys. BLASPHEMY!

I actually think that's a really awesome idea. I have a feeling the actual implementation is going to go pretty badly though.

I guess they took this idea from the Lupin movie Green vs Red?

Is Peter Laird ever going to finish the latest volume of TMNT? The last issue came out in 2006. There's been PLENTY of Tales of TMNT but none of them tie up the cliffhangers from the core series.
Rcoksteady and Bebop were sorely missed from 2003 series. Hun is a pisspoor replacement.

I'd be interesting to see the modern (well, as last I checked) version of Raphael, who tended to be a bit "disagreeable," finally meet Rob Paulson's Raphel, who seemed to be an evolutionary step to Chandler from "Friends."
They still ain't going to bring back Mona Lisa, though, are they? Bastids.

This sounds like an unworkable meta-cluster f, also @sykishi you use of "peaked" is incorrect, the phrase is "my interest is piqued". Strict grammarian for life.

Teeks> Indeed, certainly nothing like Leonardo decapitating the Shredder, with the latter's head rolling into a fire. Or Leonardo blowing up at Splinter and hurting him during training.
Oh, wait...
Also, the headline for this is pretty far off the mark. People, fans at least, have been expecting it for quite some time, I imagine a number of people have demanded to see the old Turtles back in any way, shape, or form, and... well, what's so hard to fathom?
Now, if they had paired up the cartoon Turtles with their original comic brethern?
Which cartoon Turtles? There are two of them. :P And the newer ones are close enough to the comic version that I can't even imagine what there is to complain about. You'd either wind up with two nigh-identical groups if you mean the latter, and if you mean the former, the new toon is close enough to the comic that, for all intents and purposes, it would probably look like the same thing (but with more color).
The only way this will be complete is if the old Turtles shill all sorts of merchandise, new villains, new outfits, and new vehicles. And eat those old mutagen pudding pies.

What the Hell? Why is Peter Laird only selling regular TMNT online? I don't want to read online comics but I don't want to pay $10 per issue either! Why is he only selling Tales through Diamond at a comparitively reasonable price? Why didn't they mention that in Tales for people that don't check the site? Is that how they repay my patience?

Not sure if I should be saying this, but they do in fact meet up with the comic versions of themselves (and maybe even some other incantations...)
Also I agree with Jeremy that if you think the two shows are too similar to warrant this crossover you must not be much of a Turtles fan. Which is fine, but I'll have to disagree and say that I don't think it's a throw-away idea. I mean the movie could end up being awful, I have no idea, but I think it's a really cool and (gasp) original idea.
Also as a related aside, for running a site about nothing but geeky things you sure do seem to hate most of the things you write about.

I managed to go to see this crossover at the con. I gotta say, it was fantastic. I understand the hesitance, because when you hear the synopsis it sounds awful. However, it's done wonderfully. I was laughing the entire time, they made fun of themselves on just about every level and still kept it in character and realistic (for what it is). It was a thrill to watch from beginning to end and I can't wait for it to come out on video so I can own it.
