If you're any kind of martial art flick fan, chances are you enjoyed the hell out of Tony Jaa's debut flick Ong-Bak, since like Jackie Chan, Jaa does all his own stunts. It was pretty cool... but it did not involve wild animals. In Ong-Bak 2, not only does Jaa appear to fight a crocodile, but he runs over a herd of stampeding elepphants, and even leaps backwards off one to deliver some poor thug a shin to head. It is, clinically speaking, fucking awesome. In Ong-Bak 3 I hear Jaa is going to deliver an atomic elbow from a launching space shuttle. (Via Twitchfilm)

Hmmm, so what would happen if Tony Jaa and Chuck Norris fought, then?
Hey, just askin'.

I was so excited for this movie but it was one of the most insanely boring MA flicks I ever saw. It made no sense and it felt like watching Dungeon Siege starring Tony Jaa.
I will give it another shot, but I´d rather watch the original Ong-Bak or Revenge of the warrior anytime.

That elephant later died of a brain hemmorage, because you can't come into contact with Tony Jaa without dying.

I've seen the Thai release. I wouldn't be able to tell you much about the story because even after I found a subbed version I just skipped all the parts where nobody was getting kicked in the face, but the face-kicking scenes are both plentiful and really fucking amazing. The big step up from Tony's previous films is the choreography, which is a lot faster and more complex here than in Ong Bak or TYG/Protector. He experiments with different fighting styles and weapons as well. It does have some shitty bits, like the lack of a decent plot and some awful wuxia wirework near the end of the final epic battle sequence (yes, wirework in a Tony film. I have no idea whose brilliant idea that was), and the cliffhanger ending meant to set up the third film (which is set to have the stupidest gimmick I've ever heard for a martial arts film, but that I'm reluctant to spoil here. It's not too hard to find the announcement on the 'tubes though).

I loved that trailer. You can find the full movie on Youtube but with no subs.
Protector was a great film. It had a decent story and great fight choreography as well. Didn't like the original Ong Bak, the fights and story weren't too impressive but it looks like they fixed the former.

I agree with Erwin - Ong Bak 2 is not good. I saw it in March at SWSX. There was a sold out midnight crowd. I was prepared for butt-kicking. It could have been a fantastic experience. Unfortunately, it was so very boring. Here are a few vague (to avoid spoilage) issues I had with the film:
It's not a sequel - it's an entirely different story. It's no longer modern day and Tony Jaa has been time-warped back to ancient olden times. This kinda freaked me out, because I didn't know how he found a time machine. Then we meet Little Tony Jaa (or Baby Ong Bak). Then you get a 'growing up montage' that gave me the illusion of plot. I was waiting for something original to happen, like a present or something, but Tony Jaa never let me have it. Maybe the fights will be incredible? No way - the fighting is weak compared to Ong Bak 1, there's no focus and the fights don't even tell a story. They're just a bunch of random flips, kicks and head punches and stuff that doesn't really make sense even as I write this.
I don't want to spoil anything, but here's an example of how crappy the fighting is: Do you think the elephant stuff looks cool? Be prepared to be disappointed. Let's just say one of the elephant stunts ends with Tony Jaa fighting a crazy bird lady. Yes it does.
Tony Jaa almost had a nervous breakdown from both directing and fighting, so I feel a little bad saying these terrible bad things about his film. Then I remembered the crazy bird lady.

I'm gonna go learn this martial art shit and when I become as good as Tony Jaa, I'm gonna go hunt criminals in the night.
I can't wait for this one.

Oddly enough, it was the simple, easy to follow plot that made me like Ong-Bak 1 as much as I did. Does this have a story?

But yeah, saw this subbed a few months ago, the ending is really weak, but otherwise an amazing martial arts flick.
