As much as this terrifies me, I find myself oddly compelled to purchase it. SImply because it has Mark Harmon (Bastion of all things badassed), Gina Torres (Because I'm a retarded browncoat) and James Woods. A man who can simply do no wrong.

Billy Baldwin? Just shoot my knees and leave me to bleed out.

While Billy Batman is a disgraceful concept, this is still every kind of awesome one could wish from a DCU animated movie. Complete Justice League including B- and C-listers? Check. Crime Syndicate of Amerika? Double Check.

I'm conflicted on this one. The story and slightly different art style excites me. On the other hand I find most all of the voice acting absurdly wrong and out of place. Woods/Owlman is growing on me, but the rest? Eh. Baldwin and Harmon are NOT doing it for me at all.

can not belive they decided to have billy baldwin be batman instead of using kevin and somebody else as owl man. though seeing the crime sydicate animated and maybe the thing being the first test of the waters for an animated crisis on infinite earths makes the thing almost worth getting.

Billy Baldwin does have one of those good raspy-voices, but yeah, Billy effing Baldwin…Atleast it wasn’t God fearing Stephen effing Baldwin…Can’t believe MTV has anything to do with this….MTV does have a good track record of promoting awesome and offbeat animated programs (Who can forget the awesome Spiderman CGI series from a few years ago)..It’s just that MTV doesn’t have any intent on EVER expanding stuff like this beyond the initial hype period…

I knew it was too good to stay true. I sat down today to watch Public Enemies and was treated to an entertaining, if somewhat hole riddled plot with writing on par to Terminator: Salvation. The voices were right but the character designs, including the women, were out of some Henry Rollinsesque universe. Then the special feature. Billy Batman and SuperHarmon. Thank god I'm old enough to drink.

anyway, aside from that i think that it looks pretty good. James Woods is in it, so color me excited. That, and I actually am ok with Billy Baldwin (ever since he was hilarious in Forgetting Sarah Marshall).

Did Conroy have a fucking heart attack? Why would you NOT have him as Batman?

It's a little hard to gauge how well the voices work when they show the actors saying their lines instead of the animated characters. Mark Harmon actually sounds pretty good, but Baldwin just isn't making me think Batman. And as much as I like James Woods, his voice is just too distinctive. I see no one but James Woods, or maybe Hades.

By the way, the director is pretty cute.

I am willing to give this the benefit of the doubt. I'll see/buy it. I mean really, Chris Noth, Mark Harmon, and James Woods gives this movie a chance. Billy F'n Baldwin though...

Well at least there were two good cartoon movies from DC.

Billy Baldwin only SOUNDS bad. But when you THINK about it, it's totally logical. He's not even a bad actor, his personal life is the real joke.

Be happy they hired someone that can act and has a voice that fits the bill. You do know that they have auditions for these roles, and he actually beat out other people.

Giving the gig to Conroy all the time isn't really smart.

Is it just me or is James Woods going for an "L" thing with his take on Owlman? I kept waiting for him to ask Light if he's ever told the truth.

MTV having a great track record promoting animated shows based on the CGI Spider-Man?

There was tremendous amount of meddling with that show - MTV pushed and pushed to make it "cool" and "hip" - which is why, for example, the main characters were constantly at that coffee stand, why many stylistic choices were made, why many musicians were voice actors in it, etc. MTV wanted the show focused on their prime demographic: 17 - 25 year olds. (The show was quite good, IMHO, and I certainly enjoyed it, but the MTV influence was, at times, rather jarring.)

Mainframe entertainment, the company that produced it (best known for "Reboot"), invested a huge amount of time, effort and money into the show, hoping it would make money back for them with the later seasons.

MTV, in its infinite wisdom, put the show on at 10:00 on Friday nights. Remember that target demographic? You think any of them were even HOME, watching TV?

Naturally, the show did not receive very good ratings. MTV canceled it, and this basically broke Mainframe Ent.

As far as I'm concerned, crappy network execs/management killed this show - much like nearly anything good that's ever been on FOX.

It's a shame - it was pretty good. NPH was a really great Peter Parker, and the show ended on a complete cliffhanger.

Um, am I the only one whose choice of buying this is being directly influenced by how hot the director of the thing is?

Finally, the rest of the world realizes what I concluded long ago--That Mark Harmon is actually Superman.

You know I'm usaly at least within a few feet of your opinion Rob when ever you talk about stuff like this, but I may have to dissagree with you on this one. I do have to say though after seeing S/B:PE (of which the only thing outright bad I can see about it is Power Girls creepy as hell "Anime-esque eyes". . .seriously Dini stick to what you know) I'm not seeing anything in this preview that's turning me off to this movie. Sure Baldwin is a joke but I'm not going to be thinking that. I'm going to be thinking, "HOLLY SHIT BATMAN'S KICKINGS OWLMAN'S ASS. . .HOLLY SHIT OWLMAN IS JAMES WOODS!!!!!1!!11!!"

Yes MTV killed my favorite company (MainFrame) and yes they have done bad things in the past. . .but MTV has nothing to do with this project,they just had the preview. They are not makeing the movie just showing us how bad ass it could be.

Everyone's hating on Baldwin on name value alone. Yes, that brief snippet of him is absolutely terrible. But Harmon if fucking WORSE. Neither of them has the gravitas to pull those characters off. Hating Baldwin in this is just, it's fair. But simultaneously admiring Harmon's work above is not only wrong, it's hypocritical. You suck as people, nerds.

And the director of this thing will have my mouth babies. This much is certain. She has no idea the stalking she just opened herself up for by showing what she looks like in a preview aimed at nerds.

Strange Baldwin casting aside, this looks pretty good. I'll check it out for sure. Woods as Owlman has me intrigued.

I also would like to add that I hope they don't ever make the actual Crisis on Infinite Earths into a movie. That series was awful. This seems to take the only elements from it that were worth a damn and makes a proper story out of them (as far as can be made out from the trailer).

1. Batman is already super emo so why is his alternative universe counterpart the same way?
2. Since Owlman is clearly the evilest of all the characters, does that man that Batman is the least evil of all characters in the DCU?

I don't think you read and understood what I wrote. This is a just a cartoon. It's not some live-action movie going out to the theaters where a mass market audience will be viewing it. I can take a cartoon straying off-subject that isn't even directed or produced by some well known name. When a cartoon goes straight to DVD, I'm willing to give it the chance to be different. But when I'm paying big money for box office tickets with a good chance of my owning the DVD when it comes out if it isn't a stinker of a movie, and it's a big budget live action movie, I expect more for my time and money.

Read my lines a little closer and understand the subject before you try to call me out and blame me for supporting things like "Bayformers". I don't condone the trash that happens to franchises in big budget movies.

Being a direct to dvd cartoon doesn't mean we can't have high expectations for it. If everyone was more critical, writers and directors would have to put in more of an effort and the end product would be of much higher quality. At the moment production companies just want to maximise their profit, so we get low budget, unpolished turds of movies designed purely to attract the largest number of idiot customers possible.
