Other than getting on a plane that caught on fire, I had a pretty good three-day weekend. The best part? Not dying in a fire on a plane. Close second? This D&D ad, parodying those awesome Canadian Club whiskey ads, made by my buddy Chris Ward (click the link to see an original). If you've been reading the Star Wars haiku contest, you know Ward has been on fire with comedy this weekend; I think I'm going to have to give him a separate tribute page whenever I do the winners' article. But goddamn, nothing tops this thing. "Rolled to feel up his elf girlfriend?" FUCK AND YES. (Via World of WardCrap)

My dad was actually a dwarf fighter according to the character sheet tucked in-between his PHB when he gave me all of his 1st Ed AD&D stuff. I still like the nice, sharp edges his dice have, nothing like the rounded ones you get today. Just be careful if you drop a d4 on the floor.

Gygax and Arneson were 35 and 26 respectively when the first edition of D&D came out. I think that's old enough for somebody to have children who, today, would just start playing D&D.

Actually, not only did BOTH my parents play DnD when they were my age, they played as a couple. Now I have played a game or two myself but I have to admit I drew the line at dating someone I was playing with, in fact after I was asked out by the guy who hosted my games I never went back.
