I don't like the design much either. It has various interesting choices that just don't mesh for me.

I actually kind of like it, always did like the Babs suit better and I also am a fan of Huntress. Maybe because she was originally Batman and Catwomans kid, or maybe because she wears a shirt with the stomache cut out and a cross bow. But anyways I did the new suit even with the X-Force style leg belt

I've heard over and over from DC folks, up to and including Dan Didio, that Barbara will never get rehabilitated because she's DC's only prominent disabled character.

I am so resoundingly MEH over the new Batgirl that all I've been able to do is stare at the costume and kind of wrinkle my nose. It's not bad, but it's not really great, and that's kind of how I feel about the entire situation. Could have been worse, could have been better. Just meh.

I miss Cass.

I'm already with the new costume, but at this point >the mysterious new Batgirl And I'm cool with them keeping Barbara where she is, Oracle and mentor. More good stories have been told with her in the chair than out.

Have to say that I do like that you can see her hair. I love to see the way hair is drawn especially since I love drawing hair myself. However, not a big fan of the purple. I would have been ok if it was just the cape but now it's a bit much.

I'm definitely not a fan of the new Batgirl. I never liked her, found her annoying, and now I full on hate her for replacing Cassie. Cassie was no Barbara Gordon, who is THE Batgirl, but she was different, interesting, a good fighter, and Asian to boot. And her reason for leaving is just dumb. I would like Barbara to get back into costume again at some point. She was the best! Apparently other characters are allowed to recover from ridiculous, paralyzing injuries or death but no, not her.

I don't know anything about the new girl (other than who she is) but on the matter of pure costuming, I hate it. Frankly, Barbara was awesome IN SPITE of a stupid costume. Exposed hair and barely any mask to protect identity? Let's get in a fight and rip that red mane right out of your skull. Fuck. Cassandra Cain had what I considered to be the only reasonable costume in the ENTIRE bat family what with having all of her face hidden. Why the hell wouldn't you do that? Yeah, Batman had some good lines related to his exposed jaw, so he's clear. Also, he's fucking Batman. Nobody else in the Bat family has that excuse.

I always hoped that Babs Gordon would come back as Batgirl, but I guess it'll never happen. Yeah, Bruce Wayne can get his back broken by Bane and recover, and Jason Todd can get beaten to death by The Joker and STILL come back, but Barbara Gordon is stuck being DC's resident disabled character. Between that and the revolving door that the Batgirl mantle has become, it just goes to show you how little the DC establishment thinks of Batgirl. And then there's what they did to Supergirl . . . ugh . . .

Man. I was fine with Steph taking the mantle from her friend Cass. I was hoping Cass would stick around though. I was hoping for more of an ensemble cast. Either way, this new costume is total crap and is not helping endear Steph in her new role. The side blue purple stuff looks crappy and really not with any good color scheme. And are they trying to make it look like those Superman New Krypton costumes? What? Why?

The design aside, this looks like it was traced from a Frank Cho pin-up, and if it weren't for the cape, there'd be no suggestion that Batgirl was actually in motion.

I have no problems with Steph taking over the role and am VERY happy Babs hasn't because she's 1000% better as Oracle IMO

As for the costume, I can see where they're going, taking elements of both previous Batgirl costumes, plus adding touches for the Spoiler identity

But the thigh belt and the purple side panels doe look very Rob Liefeld redesigning the New Mutants again

If I had my druthers, I'd get rid of the thighbelt, and darken the purple to be deeper rather than violet

Is it just me, or does this look like a 90's style "badass" update costume design hidden by a contemporary art style?
Not so much a horrendous one, actually more tasteful, like Tim Drake's initial costume(One of the best redesigns that managed to eliminate the problems with the Golden Age oufit while remaining faithful) Still, that outfit has had the 90s streamlined the fuck out of it recently.

Still, it's okay. But, hey Cassie! Might want to dye your fucking hair if you plan on being a creature of the night.

I think the Cassandra Cain quitting again thing felt kinda like a weak plot device. I loved her way too much to believe it.

Having experimented though, a thigh belt is about as feasible and functional in real life as your run-of-the-mill redonkulous gigantic anime sword that's four feet taller than its bearer and would realistically weigh about 900 lbs.

That custom design is ugly...the hair coming out the cowl is ok though... I haven't read the title yet, but I hope Barbara is involved here more than she was with the previous Batgirl.

Hey, Knightfall's the most important Batman story of the last 25 years or so, no one should say a bad thing about it (although the final AzBats costume was all kinds of fugly). It put the boots to the "Batman should be kewl like the Punisher!" idea*, and for that Denny et al should always be remembered as having done a world of good.

* For those of you under 20, THIS WAS ACTUALLY A SERIOUS THING. Dark Knight Returns caused a lot of perception problems that Knightfall was basically created to provide a counter-argument for, sort of the same way as how things like Kingdom Come were taking the piss out of Image-y "heroes." I'll accept the argument that the stupidity likely would've burned out on its own as BTAS' image of Batman became the one more accepted, but comics fans are a notoriously tough nut to crack.

Oh, and one other thing: what the hell is Huntress doing these days, anyway? She's been offscreen ever since BoP got the axe as far as I can tell, which is a shame as Simone had turned her into a legitimate lead character who carried the book pretty well after Brad Meltzer pulled his goofy power play to get Black Canary into the JLA.

Holy crap, Batgirl! My City of Heroes character had this EXACT SAME UNIFORM... except with a different helmet and chest insignia. The side hashing was red instead of purple and the helmet was way cooler. Being a healer I had a red cross instead of a bat.

So glad Gordon didn't come back,she was such a boring nothing charater who was easily replaced.She's such a great character as oracle.

Loved Cass as Batgirl who also had on of the best costumes in comics.

Like Steph's costume,it's a good mix of old and new.Love the thigh belt,which is very useful as they have them in real life.

This outfit is 38.6 kinds of hideous and wrong. I'm not a big fan of American comics, but I know what I like, and I don't like this nasty costume. There have been a few semi-decent batgirl outfits over the years, and this won't go down in history as one of them.

Funniest aspect of this costume is that a rookie CSI would have her identity figured out by the end of her first shift thanks to those long luxurious golden locks flowing so freely behind her. Guys who aren't familiar with women, here's the skinny: girls shed hair... A LOT!!! And hair has DNA.

This is more a problem all comics face in light of modern scientific progress, but it bothers me because this is a modern re-invention. The creator needs to take into account the changed world and the new suit should have reflected the changed world, especially in a series that has Batman (the greatest detective in the world). With modern tech just showcased on CSI alone, Bruce would have been exposed by street light cams matching Batman's jaw shape and Bruce's. Then again, the media and bored internet peoples would have beaten the law to that one. Paparazzi can identify a celebrity with a bag over his/her head, even when they have't been in the spotlight for decades.

That's the nice thing about characters like Iron Man and Venom. The suits will hide their identities as long as they don't start gushing blood all over the place. Though, in Venom's case, it doesn't matter that people know who he is. He has the power to ensure they can't do anything with the knowledge.

Costume's kind of a throwback. I liked Cassie's suit but remember this isn't her. So it's...different.

i like the costume. it looks functional and not too female superheroey (read: high heels, cleavage). i dig the hair sticking out as a throwback to babs (she hasn't been batgirl since dick grayson was robin, get over it guys). the colours are an acknowledgment to her spoiler days, which is an aspect to new costumes i've liked. like grayson's lighter batman armor/short gloves or damians league of assassins duds under the robin gear, or even tim drake's superboy homage back when that was relevant. cass was a great batgirl but i think the explanation for why she gave up the cowl makes sense. she was always more bruce's than the bat family's. batgirl has almost always been a bit of a bat family outsider character, so i think steph fits that bill.
