GeekTyrant dug up this silent but kinda awesome footage of a 1975 Star Trek convention held in Chicago, which featured an entire Enterprise crew reunion. I mean everybody -- Shatner, Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig, and George Takei, who, it might be mentioned, was clearly the pimpingest dude in the entirety of the '70s. I can't even imagine being there and a Trek fan, and seeing the entire crew back together. Wow.

That was probably the very last time that Star Trek was the height of sci-fi fandom, before Star Wars came out and practically redefined and reignited the notion and interest in sci-fi.
Anyone else imagine them (specifically Shatner) saying things like "Yeah, I suppose you could do Star Trek with a different cast, but honestly it wouldn't be near as good as the original, and the captain could not be as popular as me", or "I guarantee you NOTHING in fandom will ever be bigger than Star Trek!"

I remember seeing the entire cast with Roddenberry in '91 at the 25th Anniversary. Quite a moment.

It's such a tease at the end that his film runs out, just as Shatner and Doohan appear to be hugging for the final bow - definitely an earlier time.

that thing showed that star trek even in the early stages would not die plus its now a part of history for star trek since both De forest and James are both at the big star trek con in the sky. so this video shows a piece of history. for star trek

Well that was danged cool. Thanks for posting it. Takes me back to the day. I still remember seeing Nimoy at a mall appearance when I was 5 or 6 and being shocked that his ears weren't really pointed. I suppose I expected him to beam in as well.

I'm not an original series fan but that was undeniably cool. Everyone looked great. Loved Doohan's beard and Takei is indeed pimptastic.
