And then a new BBC Actual trailer, where the new Who premieres on April 3rd:
Not bad, right? Matt Smith's Doctor might actually be more of a badass than Tennant, and that sounds totally awesome to me. Anyone still worried about the new Doctor? (Via Den of Geek and io9)

For a show that's central theme is change and surprises, why do so many fans hate change so much? How can so many people always react so negatively to change? This is the show, this is what it does, this is why it is the longest running science fiction show ON THE PLANET. So how can you be a fan of the show, and yet show such open hostility to the new actor each time it changes? People convinced that Matt can ever be as good as David? How do you know? How can you close your mind before you even have any evidence? Besides David Tennant isn't even a patch on Tom Baker ;-)

I'll give the guy one season, his face is just too skeletal for me.
-
He's definitely growing on me, but I really hate the gun being used at all. The Doctor certainly knows how to kick ass, but he has never liked guns. Three would beat the shit out of people with martial arts, but even back then, while he condoned humans using guns on Daleks and whatnot, he never stooped to using them himself. Cautious optimism, thats my stance on Eleven.

Been watching the Doctor ever since I can remember watching tv (~1980). Since the restart, I loved Eccleston but couldn't stand Tenet -his "charm" was akin to watching my 5 yr old twin cousins compete in their vomitous Look-At-Me-I'm-The-Cutest game... entertaining for all of 2 minutes then annoying as hell. I was skeptical and thought Smith was more an attempt to market to the younger (and especially female) generation. However, the I definitely see the time lord charisma; he does not appear to be an asshat. Now I'm curious.

I continue to with hold judgment until I see a few episodes. If they can have more than half the stories set in other times and on other planets, with less focus on the companion/Doctor interpersonal problems that have existed since Ian and Barbara ran into the TARDIS, then I'll be happy no matter how Smith acts. It takes time to get used to a new Doctor, but it always makes the transition easier when the stories are good. You know the fifty year anniversary of the first episode is coming up in three years. They really need to film a multi-Doctor story with the remaining actors before the opportunity is missed.

This argument really comes down to wardrobe. In the fight between pinstripe suits and bow ties the suits always win.
-
The Doctor hates guns but will use them if it proves necessary. Also, that's not necssarily a normal gun, nor do we know if it's being fired against a living being. Cool your jets and wait until the episode to see what's going on!

That scene looks cool. The more trailers I see the more I am willing to give the Matt Smith a chance. But he does have some huge shoes to fill coming in after David Tennant. I introduced my 11 yr old niece to the DT series of Dr. Who and she loved them.
-
Both trailers were excellent. I was only nervous about Smith when they first cast him, but every time I see him in-role, I'm thrilled with him. Good timing on these trailers too, since I just got my 7th Doctor/Imperial Dalek action figures in the mail today. A NERD WINNER IS ME!!!

looks like a new Dalek color variant (army green) not sure if the midsection is the same type that can rotate or if this is a older incarnation. Also looks like this Doctor is more willing to be attack a Dalek (maybe his personality is closer to the Third and Sixth incarnation than Tenth). Not sure if the Cyberman is one from Pete's Earth or the ones from this reality (armor looks more advanced than the Earthshock model) More optimistic now over this Doctor

like every new actor who takes on the role. they make the doctor their own same is for Matt fans should give him a chance and even though i still think the Daleks are being over used love the one with the saddle bag. hilerious . as for Matts doctor having a gun. the person playing the doctor adds their own touch including weapons the doctor may find handy.even a gun. for Tennent is no longer the doctor new doctor new game.
-
I like the episode but they dont need to bring them back
-
No, he hated guns being used on people.
-
Karen Gillam is always worthy of a jellybaby.
-
I was worried until I saw him in the last few seconds of End of Time and I've never been worries again.
-
That was one of the best episodes of the new Who ever!
-
Is the conversion for 1 David Tennant about 3.5 Colin Bakers, or 4? I can never remember...
-
Tennant's Doctor hated guns....
-
I think I just wet myself a little bit....
-
Holy crap, Spitfires in space strafing a Dalek starship. BBC News Website did say "Spitfires in space" but even so... [nerd] ...not that air superiority fighters are the best choice for an anti-shipping strike. Would have been even more strange looking though if they had used the Fairley "Stringbag" Swordfish. [/nerd]

Now that I've seen some footage of this guy with some small examples of his vocal delivery, I'll happily give him a chance. Nowhere near as twee as the publicity material from a few months back made him seem.
-
Holy crap, that Dalek had a Union Jack on it!
-
Better than Tennant? Not possible. I said I'd be happy if he was half the doctor Tennant was. It's looking like he's living up to it, but I highly doubt he'll be better. Also, the Doctor hates guns, why is does the Doctor have a gun?
-
Still worried? Yes. I'll still check it out though.
-
wow really they are bring back the weeping angel blah
-
He has an almost bizarre charm about him (thankfully) that seems to have carried over well in to the role. As though he's really gotten the hang of that 'much older than his appearance' thing the Doctor is often required to convey, and good, given his actual age, as I personally think that's all the more important here. Perhaps it comes naturally, I'm not sure. Whatever it is, I can't wait for it to be on my screen.
-
First video crapped out on me :( I love David Tennant, but I am totally willing to give the new guy a go. Besides, a hot redhead partner in crime? WIN.
-
... a Dalek with saddlebags. Well played, Mr. Moffat. Or, in that case, Mr. Gatiss. BBC confirmed a second season starring Smith last week, btw.
