I've already been at my most obnoxiously verbose today, so three quick thoughts:
1) Olivia Wilde has played both Madonna and the Baroness for Funny or Die, meaning besides being bewilderingly attractive she has a great sense of humor, and thus is probably the perfect woman.
2) Patton Oswalt as Dr. Demento is the most brilliant casting ever in the history of cinema as a medium, regardless that it's for a parody trailer web short.
3) This is so awesome I'm genuinely sad it's not real. Thanks for nothing, FoD.

I've been a die-hard AL-chocoholic for 26 years (since I was 8 y/o, boy a feel old!) I wish this was a REAL movie. That would be awesome! BTW Patton is SPOT-ON as my HERO Dr.Demento. I use to have a non-profit Dr. Demento style show Online called "Worldwide Wacky with Bobby Kaye" until the RIAA started cracking down on such stuff. (Damn them all to hell. I purposely made sure I made no money from the gig yet they're @$$holes as alluded to in Al's brilliant opus "Don't Download This Song" Anyway some smart movie executive needs to get off their @$$, quit it already with the remakes and comic books and make "The "Weird Al" story" a reality. Of course they Probably figure that with "Walk Hard" the "Walk the Line"-Parody thing has been done and with UHF "Weird Al" has been done. However head this you must, 80's Retro is IN and "Weird Al" is as hot now as he ever was. More so in fact thanks to his Internet following. (and his Adult Swim cameos) "White and Nerdy" was an even bigger hit then "Eat It". It made it to #9 on Billboard's top 100, "Eat It" made it to #12 in 1984. How many artist have had a top hit more then 25 years after their debut. I can only think of The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and (posthumously) Elvis Presley. Pretty solid company there. (They're all in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!) And certainty no comedy music artist has had anywhere near this longevity. So IMHO not only should this movie be made, "Weird Al" needs to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!. Just my .02 -Yoda P.S. If AL or his bandmates read this, when you come to Toledo look for the tall fat guy (wearing either an "Indy" Fedora or a Mud Hens ball-cap) with his short curly-haired nephew when you come to Toledo on the 30th. That will be me! :) -Yoda

YOU TOO!?!?!? I thought I was the only one to whom such a thing would happen!
-
I got goose bumps at the end when the dad ripped open his jacket to reveal the colourful tropic shirt...
-
Where's the petition for this as a full length feature film? Is there one?
-
Damnit, it's fake? Life is not fair. My 10 year old daughter listens to him thus completing the 30+ year circle.
-
his parody song about Jurassic Park was my favorite song ever when i was a little kid.
-
The fact that Weird Al is actually in this and HE DOESN'T PLAY HIMSELF is gold. I desperately want this to be a real movie.
-
Oy gevalt, I'm so ferklempt that I could plotz
-
hey hollywood, THIS is what you should be investing your dollars in, instead of a forced localization of "Akira" and that action-packed detergant saga!
-
I would watch Gary Cole doing laundry and singing the fucking alphabet song. This movie actually stands a chance of being made if enough people pushed for it.
-
lol that is proalby how Al would proably due his life story as a biop. and love Al trying to get romantic with Madonna. plus al playing the exec was just so reel . and Patton as dr. Demento first thought it was the real one.
-
Wow this is fucking great.
-
(beginnings futilely emailing Hollywood Execs.)
-
Nice to know he's still around, and more importantly, still funny! :]
-
I saw Weird Al live a few years ago and he's everything you could want in a performer: funny, theatrical, musically talented, and nice as hell. Long live Weird Al!
-
I need to see this as a film, I have listened to weird al for as long as I can remember.
-
The olde dogge APPROVES of this!
-
This has some serious win energy behind it. Hollyweird, are you listening?
-
If you think about it, he's got to have one of the best band's ever to walk the earth. I mean, during a concert, most bands just go from song to song, and all within the same genre...but Al's band can turn on a dime and go from a "rap" like White & Nerdy to a swing number like Grapefruit Diet. And then into a polka! That's talent!
-
You know, as a writing exercise a year or so ago, I wrote up just such a thing. Right down to a secret "twist" ending that I thought was pretty funny. Even if I can't remember what it was off the top of my head. Maybe I should see if I can find that...
-
Agreed!
-
I laughed much, especially at Al's cameo. He was my very first concert. Shit was great, fat suit and bubbles and everything. Oh yeah, I think he was my first crush too. I was a weird little girl.
-
Jackson: Gone and a sad joke, Coolio: Reality TV show fodder, So Many Many One Hit Wonders: Gone. "Weird Al" Yankovic: Still here, still creating, and still well liked. This documentary needs to be made. If only to forever cement his position as one of the predominant artists of the 20th century.
-
Movies based on fake trailers are being made! "Machete" is a spinoff from the trailer Grindhouse. If this Weird All one gets popular enough, who knows?
-
Yes, a feature-length bio movie about Al with this kind of casting MUST be made. If not, then they should at least make a movie based on his song "Nature Trail to Hell in 3D". It would be the best 3D movie ever!
-
DEAR SWEET LORD, WEIRD AL, PLEASE... MAKE!! THIS!! FILM!!!
-
Wow, so no go on this? It would be awesome. It's like Weird Al's moving from music to movies. The guy is pretty cool. I saw him in concert once at the state fair in Az, and it is one of the most entertaining out of the 40 or so shows I've gone to. A fake movie about him would actually be even more fun than a real one.
-
Even better considering the minuscule level of accuracy. It's like a parody of what a musician biopic should be, how meta.
-
I wonder if I would have found this funnier if Weird Al didn't annoy the crap out of me.
-
I watched Al on Biography a few weeks ago, and to be honest, he really has a life that should be chronicled in such a manner. I would be first in line for this movie. I would literally camp out in front of the theatre for weeks, while no one else was even thinking about buying a ticket, and everyone thought I was an insane homeless person, just to be the first in line to buy a ticket and see this masterpiece.
-
They should have done this instead of "Walk Hard"
-
I like that Al plays a goutee-sporting record exec. Nice.
-
Two words: "F***" and "Yes"
-
I would totally pay to see that.
-
Damnit! Now I want to see this movie!
-
Like I even have to remind you that Olivia Wilde is also in the new Tron. She's going to be the new top nerd girl, move over Megan Fox. For a second point: Casting in this is fantastic. Aaron Paul makes Al a badass and if you aren't familiar with Aaron Paul's work, I highly suggest watching Breaking Bad. Its the most gripping show I've ever seen. I also had to watch the clip three times to realise that Patton Oswald was Dr. Demento cause I though that it was really Dr. Demento. Amazing. As an Al fan and as a viral video fan, this clip is truely a shiny beacon in an otherwise dark and cruel and cold internet we live in.
-
That looks like it could be the best parody movie in a long time, too bad it's not real.
-
I think I got an awesomeness overload just now.
-
Why is this not real? The world is cruel.
-
Gary Cole is all kinds of awesome
-
...this is so fucking genius it's phenomenal. This has got to be made into a movie. Now.
-
And Al himself is in this thing. All sorts of awesome.
