• Such a sweet man! We met him at an event in SoCal when the Speed Racer movie opened. The theme song stays on my phone, along with Megas XLR, of course. RIP, Pete, you did great for us!

• I met him at Sakura Con, I think it was two years ago? He was really really sweet and awesome. I was dressed as Trixie, and he gave me a hug and an autograph. T-T

• I have never heard of him. However, <i>He will be best remembered as the director, writer and voice of Speed Racer, as well as the composer of its American theme song. </i> Clearly he is my hero, and I mourn his passing. Job well done, sir - a job well done, indeed.

• Wearing all black in the office today, which is kinda out of character for me. When asked, I point to this link. Nobody knows who he was, despite of the "Death Noters" and "Gundam Heads" and "Magical Girlies" we have here in the office. I cried in my heart. Goodbye, ol Pete. Without you, we won't have what we have here today. May your soul find its way to heaven, where giggly, high-pitched, wide-eyed women with busty chests and multi-colored hair shall accompany you forever.

• i met him three years ago at sakuracon. he had a booth... he said that not many people had come by. i freaked out and told him how much i had loved speed- how when i was little i was in love with him and quite envious of Trixy. he laughed and shook my hand and gave me a hug. he was so sososoosoo sweet. i fell in love all over again. this is the first time anyone i have met and loved has died, and its soul wrenching at the moment. i will miss you Peter and you deserved everything in the world- everything and all. i will watch speed with a tear in my eye and love in my heart for having met you and fallen in love with what you did.

• Two years ago when I was helping out at Otakon, I was assigned to work his panel. He had some great stories about his days working on Speed Racer. But what amazed me most was after the panel, there were some fans of his, an entire family actually, all dressed up as characters from the show( although I mostly remember the one dressed as Trixie). He was happy to meet them, sign a helmet that was a replica of Speed's, and take a picture with them. Shows how much of an effect he had on the fandom itself.

• RIP Peter. Your work will always be appreciated.

• sad that a man who helped make animie become big in the u.s has now been called to be with God. sympathy to his friends and family for their loss. even if he was more a behind the scenes guy. he still left an impact that will not be forgoten

• I met him at Sakuracon a few years ago....He was amazingly nice. It was sad though, because most of this generation of Anime-lovers had no idea who he was, so he sat in the corner of the convention hall by himself with only a few die hard fans. All the same, it made it much easier to hold an uninterrupted conversation with the man. RIP Pete.

• I met him a few years ago at the NY Comicon and he was just as cool and engaging as the previous posters have stated. I loved him as Speed Racer but the real thrill for me when meeting him was that he did tons of voices for the Toho giant monster movies released here in the 1960's. Rest well, Mr. Fernandez. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.

• I interviewed him for Anime Insider once, and he was just a lovely, fun guy to talk to, and we chatted for a lot longer than we had page space for.

• Congratulations on both being famous and nice at the same time pete, your legacy should be aspired to.

• I heard, I'm very saddened. I got to meet him once and see him at several NYC events. He was a very nice guy and his contribution to Anime in America was huge. I'm saddened.
