This is the trailer for Monsters. It's not a bad looking alien invasion film -- although the aliens have already come to earth, as opposed to sucking up people with their giant Dyson spaceships -- but what's really impressive is that it was made with seven people: two stars, and five crew members, which means it's fucking awesome looking given that. Blaster has the synopsis:
Six years ago NASA discovered the possibility of alien life within our solar system. A probe was launched to collect samples, but crashed upon re-entry over Central America. Soon after, new life forms began to appear and grow. In an effort to stem the destruction that resulted, half of Mexico was quarantined as an INFECTED ZONE. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain the massive creatures... Our story begins when a jaded US journalist (McNairy) begrudgingly agrees to find his boss' daughter, a shaken American tourist (Able) and escort her through the infected zone to the safety of the US border.
All I know is that this film has one big advantage over Cloverfield -- if there's only two human characters, then there can only be two hideous douchebags on screen at one time maximum. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to root for he monster to kill the main characters to put them out of your mystery.
