wtf. theres some thing that should be left alone.
-
Apparently in the show Hera was "Mitochondrial Eve"; the idea is that mitochondrial DNA is only ever passed from mother to offspring, so everyone can trace their mitoDNA back to her (except it's not actually everyone, just a good number of people), and at some point a lot of people with other mitoDNA haplotypes were wiped out. They just tried to play on the "Eve" term to make people thing LULZ SHE IS THE MOTHER OF US ALL. Except she's not. And even then it makes no difference. But... other than that there's absolutely nothing "special" (which they tried to make Hera out as) about having any sort of mitochondrial DNA. There's some inherited diseases which can be passed through mitoDNA but that's about it.
-
Yeah. I really dug it. It's just a different version. Plus it kinda felt in tune with the whole pagan / Greek overtones of the show. I really dug that aspect of it.
-
You beat me to being "that guy". I'm always a stickler for sourcing things properly.
-
Huh. I thought part of the twist was that Hera might have been that Eve or even before her. I thought they even mentioned it.
-
Very nice.
-
Oh man! I go to Sac State, but this is the first I've heard of this! I need to find this group and have a sing-off at lunch or something.

Frakking epic!!!! The kids did a damn good job.
-
Settle down bazzzinga3. Stick to the plan.
-
Hell. Yes. ^__^
-
Just found this, I'm so glad you guys dig my arrangement! We had a blast performing it. We're looking into getting our final recording on iTunes. Stay tuned!
-
OK to be "that guy" in defense of Dylan.
-
What, no awesome frakkin' Metal Guitar Section. Lame. ;-) Though pretty impressive as the last time I talked to Bear McCreary I was rebuffed in my attempts to get instrumental versions or sheet music of the song to play for a friends wedding...
-
Frakkin' A!!! That is awesome! Gave me goosebumps, I guess I'm a cylon... [shrug]
-
I don't think it was ever intended to be the "same" as the Dylan or Hendrix version; it was supposed to be a unique version by Bear McCreary.
-
Check out the youtube comments - Bear McCreary himself put his seal of approval on this. That is high praise indeed.
-
I think it was because it was supposed to be unrecognizable at first as All Along the Watchtower, then have it become revealed. Probably has nothing to do with license for the originals. I really dig this version anyway..it's funky sounding.
-
Well, i really really like the Hendrix version, and when i heard the BSG version, i felt like if they couldn't get the licence to the hendrix or Dylan version, why bother with this Muzak version. It was a metaphor to me for how expectations for the wind up to the end of the show were not being met.
-
But they're actually not, because not all humans have Mitochondrial Eve as their ancestor. Hence why that "revelation" was so pointless.
-
I dunno if this is a reflexive reaction to the utter shit BSG ending, but I actually rather liked the song, I thought it was one of the good things to come out of it.
-
WILL SOMEONE TURN OFF THAT FRAAAAKIN MUSIC!
-
Crap. I hear music...but its the theme song from Farscape.
-
I kinda liked the version from BSG. Its not as good as the Hendrix version (obviously) but (I think) it was a pretty cool reworking of it.
-
I can hear plenty of music. But only from the women up there on stage. So unless I'm only hallucinating them... OH CRAP!! (PS: whew, Jeremy is right, that solves that problem then...)
-
Duh, were all cylons! Every human on this Earth is descended from Hera Agathon, you know the little girl whose mom was the hot Asian Cylon...
-
I must be a Cylon also, and they were at my front door. No wonder my ears were burning last night.
-
Hendrix makes everything awesome. But this was good, too.
-
Who's got two thumbs and would frak a toaster? This guy.
-
this is awesome
-
Ha! That was the first thing I thought of too.
-
And that version from battlestar galactica made it suck
-
Sorry to be "that guy", but Dylan wrote " All Along the Watchtower" so technically it's his song. Hendrix just made it awesome.
-
I guess I'm a cylon. Makes as much sense as Tigh...
-
I gotta admit...that's pretty damned impressive. I mean, so I'm told...it's not like I heard anything. No Cylons here, no siree...
