This is a chance to redeem myself. As a small child, I, unfortunately, had to leave the theater because I was very upset by the Ghostbusters torching Mr. Stay-Puft. :-( So! Now I can see the whole thing and make up for that.

(That new Krayt Dragon scream would actually fit that sequence rather alarmingly well. IMO.)
-
Reminds me of going to see the rerelease of Alien on October 31, 2003. (I had not yet been born for the original 1979 release, unfortunately.) That movie benefits from a big screen.

After reading this, this morning. I called my local AMC to ask if they will be doing this? They told me they had no idea, and I should call back later into the month. I really, realLY, REALLY hope they show this. Take my little Bro and let him see what it was like . . . er I was to young to see it myself when it came out in theaters. Sweet both of use will get to see something cool!

While this is probably a way to guage a level of fan interest in a third GB movie, I hope this is the first of a new trend - rather than spend big money on craptacular remakes, just re-release classics as they were meant to be seen. People will pay to see these great films on the big screen, either again or for the first time. Seriously, I would gladly drop thirteen bucks to see The Goonies for the hundredth time on the big screen rather than a pale remake with whatever star-of-the-week child actor is hot at the moment.

Alien era Sigourney in IMAX. You know the scene. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
-
listen! do you smell something GB RULES
-
oh yeah, we are gonna make a huge batch of ecto-cooler to bring as well. video to come...
-
In Weaver's defense she aged pretty damn well. Ps- Galaxy Quest Weaver beats all.
-
My 7 year old boy just saw this movie for the first time last week. He was singing the song the whole day while we rode bike. This is gonna blow his mind! WIN
-
YES! I was all about Ghostbusters as a kid. I'm too young to have caught it in theaters so this is like a dream come true. Now if they'd just release GB2 on bluray...
-
Oh wow, October is my birthday month! If I can see this on my birthday it'll be the first thing I'll high five God about when I next see him.
-
Saw this a few years ago on the big-screen. A local movie theatre showed a bunch of Halloween themed movies during the entire month of October...the print was scratchy as hell, but it was a blast seeing this on the big screen with an audience full of Ghostheads. I will gladly shell out the cash to see this or any other awesome re-releases on the big screen...re-releases beat remakes and reboots every damn day of the week!!!
-
not surprised given that ghost busters is experiance a new go of popularity that the rights holders would want to make as much money again from ghost busters as they can. glad to see it back in theatres
-
I remember watching Ghostbusters at a drive-in 25 odd years ago. I remember the scene towards the very beginning when the ghost librarian dives at the screen scared the 6-year old shit of me.
-
Not that surprised, given they just rereleased MASH in theatres (or is it not out yet? Can't recall)
-
Yes, but the most important question is, Does Venkman fire first in this version? And what about the digital remake of Slimer? Does he act like Jar Jar Binks now? :)
-
Um, Fuck and Yeah!
-
I hear that when Venkman gets attacked by Slimer, instead of just yelling. he now yells "Noooooooooo!"
-
Very excited about this. There are so many movies that I missed on the big screen and I love it when they make a return, however brief it may be. In the last few years I was able to see Boondock Saints, Raiders of the Lost Ark, To Kill a Mockingbird...I think there was something in 97 but I'm not sure...something about it seemed off...anyway, excited to add GB to the list
-
I bet you a million bucks, that if this Ghostbusters re-theatrical release makes a ton of cash they'll greenlight Ghostbusters 3. I think Bill Murray will only do GB3 if there's evidence that there is still a fanbase. So Akroyd and Co. will do whatever they can do to get the third movie we've all deserved.
-
Of course this means they're seriously considering Ghostbusters 3. There using this to test the waters to see if there's an audience interest.
-
I wonder if this is going to be an Imax 3d experience? Of course, I'd rather see 1980's Sigourney Weaver in high def than 2011 Sigourney Weaver in high def.......

Bustin' makes me feel good!
