I am going to say it because it needs to be said, Wind Waker was the last good Zelda game. And rereleases on the 3DS don't count.
WANT. Unfortunately, this is not a trailer for a real WiiU sequel to Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, but is instead an amazingly animated cartoon by Joel Furtado, who apparently wants a WiiU sequel to Wind Waker pretty damn bad. After seeing this video, I'm right there with him.
In other news, HOLY FUCK WIND WAKER IS 10 YEARS OLD?! Christ, just bury me now. (Via Kotaku)

The guy should totally be working on a real animated series instead of, you know...
..."Excuse meee, princess!".
I'm pretty sure Wind Waker was my favorite after the OG and Snes game. What a beautiful and fun game. I liked that Nintendo took a chance on it, they let their art direction soar and brought together some of the most fun I've had in a Zelda game. It was a nice departure from Ocarina and Majora's Mask. Both of which were amazingly fun, but this game took the cake for me. 10 years - yeah that's a damn trip!
After seeing how much everyone else loves Wind Waker, I feel a little bad about ranking it my fourth favorite Zelda game (I was around 8 when Link to the Past came out. I forced my mother to play it for me while I watched because I was terrified of killing the little man who lived inside the cartridge box. I managed to beat Link's Awakening all by myself, though. Go ahead, make all the jokes you want.). That isn't to say I didn't like it, however, because I did--very much so! I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel to it, either. On a completely different note, I think the biggest issue I had with Twilight Princess was Iliya. There was no point to her, and with Zelda and Marin (Link's Awakening)/Malon (OoT) to keep him company, Link's going to start rivaling James Bond in the girlfriend department.
That looks a lot better than the last handful of real Zelda games. If we could just have teenage Link instead of kid Link in there, we'd be all set.
Wind Waker Link packs in more emotion and character in a single eyebrow than Twilight Princess Link could manage with an entire character model. Good animation doesn't equal realistic graphics, its all about EXPRESSION and capturing life, albeit in a highly stylised form. I'd take colourful Wind Waker cel shading over Modern Warfare's hyper realistic shades of brown, grey, and greyish brown any time.
And ouutside of customary Wind Waker graphical fan wank, this video is absolutely GORGEOUS.
Skyward Sword Link is basically Twilight Princess Link that's actually capable of emoting.
Not to mention the look of absolute terror on his face when Groose skydives onto him and causes them to crash.
THIS. A hundred times over, THIS. Skyward Sword did a phenomenal job with the facial expressions and body language of every single character, be it the way the item shop guy looks at you with contempt when you don't buy something, or how Groose effortlessly oscillates between puffed out poltroon to sincere self loathing.
And Link himself was superb. The way he looks on the verge of tears when you're in the Temple of Hylia, the mixture of hate, fear (and curipous arousal) when you're fighting Ghirahim... great stuff.
Yes, let the art style be the reason you'll piss all over something. Never mind that the game it's based on could actually be far better than the follow-up with a more "realistic" (READ: gray and brown) art style.
That said, I do like Twilight Princess. It just felt too... Same-y to Ocarina of Time, and most of the items ended up being pretty useless.
Man, out of all the Zelda games I've played, and as much as I love OoT and Skyward Sword... Wind Waker's still my favorite. Yeah, the sailing gets kind of boring, and yeah, the Triforce Charts and Tingle are a pain in the ass, but the graphics for Wind Waker have aged pretty damn well, and the story is still one of my favorites since it kind of puts an endcap on the Ganon saga.
That said, the actual sequel, Phantom Hourglass, is my absolute least favorite Zelda game. Not 'cuz of the touch screen controls (which were done in a better game with ITS sequel, Spirit Tracks), but because of the Goddamned Tample of the Goddamned Ocean King. People complain about the Water Temple from OoT? At least the enemies there aren't invincible, you aren't on a time limit, AND you don't have to trek through it after every. Other. Dungeon.
Fuck the Temple of the Ocean King.
Fuck, I still haven't finished the game for this exact reason. That temple almost turned me off of playing another Zelda... almost.
Same here. Wind Waker remains my personal favourite to this day. It was my first console Zelda, and that sort of thing leaves an impact on you. Just hearing "The Legendary Hero" sends shivers running down my spine. Just wish I hadn't SOLD my copy years ago like an idiot...
The Temple of the Ocean King does indeed suck donkey balls, but the rest of the game (and Linebeck) almost make up for that. At least Spirit Tracks learnt from it and made the whole Overworld Dungeon concept a lot shorter, and gave us far more checkpoints.
No backtracking over 12 goddamn floors at a time just to unlock the next dungeon. You do one set of floors, and you rarely need to revisit them. Railways may have made the overworld even more linear, but it sure beat the hell out of changing the wind direction ever five minutes.
Yeah that is odd.
I agree though Windwaker is probably my favorite Zelda. Probably because its the first one I finished so it holds a special place in my heart.
WHAT?!?! My family was weird, I did not have a game console system till I was fourteen. Got the Gamecube and Windwaker for Christmas the year Windwaker dropped.
Master, I estimate there is a 95% chance you are on Topless Robot, watching a fan-video. By my calculations, there is a 75% chance that the "Link" featured is one of your future incarnations. Sensors indicate that you think it is awesome. There is a 100% chance I pulled the previous statistics out of my shiny blue/purple ass.

... You know, Navi may have been annoying, but at least she didn't treat me like I had a below average IQ. AND SHE DIDN'T SING LIKE MIKU HATSUNE BEING STRANGLED.
Wait, I can't shake the feeling that I should be receiving copious instructions from an annoying companion on how to watch a cartoon while watching this cartoon...
(... sorry, in a bit of a bitter place towards Nintendo's hand-holding in Zelda this week...)
Remember all the hate Wind Waker got for being kind of like a cartoon? I remember one guy complaining that it was "obviously made just for pedophiles," because "all child heroes are made to appeal to pedophiles. It's the only reason why there are ever child heroes in anything."
