There's certainly room to play the characters off against one another. The TNG characters are so insufferably stuffy and self-important, while the DW representatives are just this side of barking mad. :)

The Borg vs the Daleks... I’d pay for that alone. Borg: “We are the Borg.”Dalek: “We know who you arrrrreeee.”Borg: “Resistance is futile!”Dalek: “Exterminate!”Borg: “You will be assimilated.”Dalek: “EXTERMINATE!”Captain Picard: “Can’t we all just... get along?”Dalek: “EXTERMINATE! – EX-TER-MIN-ATE”
I'm seriously sick and tired of the crossovers. C'mon. Let's all be done with it.
Since IDW publishes G.I. Joe and Transformers comics, does this make an official Doctor Whooves and Derpy comic book possible?
It's good to see that Matthew Modine has gained a second wind for his career, even if it's in the world of comic books. I can only hope he'll take the opportunity to further explore "the duality of man, sir!"
"Identify, IDENTIFY!!!"
"Hi, I'm Ensign Wessley Crusher! Where does your species co..."
"EXTERMINATE!!" { ZOT !! }
Daleks do NOT form alliances!
Please add "Borg vs. Dalek, Ultimate Cyber Smackdown" to the growing wish list.
(Mrs. Pond in a TOS outfit must top that list!)
Dear lord, I would die happy to see Mrs. Amy Pond in a TOS outfit!
And the Daleks DID form an alliance to defeat the 11th Doctor; remember the Pandorica?
I'm actually fairly new to Dr. Who, and have watched only a dozen or so episodes. Have heard of Pandorica, but not see it yet. Did watch Doomsday, where the Daleks told the Cybermen to get stuffed, and am somewhat surprised they would ally with any other species.
I am at a loss of words right now. This is the single greatest news I have heard all day! So I am going to make the obligatory "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" comment bellow since i cannot create anything original. "Ahem" "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!!"
Not trying be negative, but don't crossover comics usually suck? Or they do they only usually suck when it's two vastly different products ( X-Men/Trek) meeting each other?
From my vantage point, the worst part about crossovers is that they seem to always rely heavily on exposition since the characters have to get each other (and assumably half of the readers) up to speed on their respective universes. Plus, you're also often dealing with twice as many characters to juggle...so things devolve quickly into superficial plot over story. On the other hand, this could work because the average episode of Star Trek involves the crew meeting an unusual life form and then having to deal with the problems in his/her/its life before moving on to the next planet.
Doctor Who is such an over-the-top concept, this actually makes absolutely perfect sense...
Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want.Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want. Want.
The Doctor and Enterpise was a fanzine story written 30 years ago or thereabouts that was highly entertaining. You can probably find iton the web.
Doctor: I don't wish to alarm you Captain, but I believe you have an Auton on your bridge.
Picard: Oh no Doctor, that's just Mr. Data, one of my crew- he's no danger. Although his brother Lore nearly got us all killed by the Borg.
Doctor: The What?
Picard: The Borg- part man, part machine... bent on assimilating all life into an emotionless collective society...
Doctor: Oh! You mean the Cybermen!
Picard: Get off my ship.
While my pants fit just fine right now, I'll be looking forward to this comic.
What other DW/sci-fi mashups could be made? I had an idea where the Doctor would interact with series/movies running at the same time. For instance, Two would board the original Enteprise and meet Kirk, while Scotty and Jamie do lots of Scottish things. The only other one I could think up was Seven & Ace getting crammed into a pimped-out phone booth with Bill & Ted.
Scotty and Jamie would go get drunk and then Scotty would say Kirk's twice the man the Doctor is and Jamie would say the TARDIS is a far better ship than that bucket of bolts the Enterprise and then they would engage in drunken Highlands combat. In kilts. Possibly shirtless.
So they finally got the rights to combine these two properties? I remember them trying and failing and then making a replacement Doctor type character, but this...this....I'll be in my bunk.
I was wondering what the Western equivalent of the Super Sentai/Kamen Rider crossover would be. Now where's the Voltron/Transformers crossover so we can round out the greatest year in entertainment crossover history?
There are a lot of opportunities for a Trek/Who crossover, but why oh why can't we move on from the current Doctor and companions? The last couple seasons have had a few good spots, but mostly about as "meh" as can be.
It may not be a move forward, but it's be a step in the right direction. That said, moving forward to the 12th would probably be something I could support as well, as long as he (she?) was less goofy. Actually, just bring back Freema Agyeman as the 12th Doctor just so nerds' heads can asplode.
Tony Curran would make a good Doctor - ginger at last, and Glesca! - but Vincent van Gogh put the kibosh on that in a most memorable fashion. Ah, the Doctor he might have been.
Fair enough. Amy's Choice and the Lodger were very good, but the rest is middling to terrible, in my opinion. If I were evaluating Series 3, I'd have put Lazarus as the only really terrible episode. The Dalek 2 parter was, as I remember good up until the end, but still pretty decent overall, and I rather liked 42. But once that second half gets going, man, it just blazes.
I was always under the impression that the general opinion was something along the lines of 'hot, but meh'. And woah, woah, woah: series three the best overall series? Sure, the run from Human Nature to The Sound of Drums is absolutely the best string of episodes Nu-Who has produced, but everything around it ranges from forgettable (42, The Lazarus Project) to Godawful (Daleks in Manhatten/Evolution of the Daleks, The Last of the Timelords), in my opinion, at least. If we were just talking about the latter half of the series, I would 100% agree with you, but, personally, I'd argue series 5 is far more consistent in quality throughout. As long as you ignore Victory of the Daleks (which I tend to do on a matter of principle).
Wait, did people *NOT* like Freema Ageyman? She's my favorite! Super attractive and appearing in, I think, the best overall season of New Who.
This times a billion. I do like Eleven. He just needs new companions already. Also a new head writer. Moffit can't string together episodes to save his life.
I was ready for a change after RTD's tenure, though I still like it a lot. And I was super excited for Moffat, since he wrote some of the best eps of the RTD era. But man, the Moffat era has just been piss poor, in my opinion, at least.
Everyone has an era of Who they soured on. For me, it was RTD's era and its oversaturation of emotion and relationship drama and such. As a fan of the classic show and its relatively overhead lightheartedness, it felt too "darker and edgier" for me.
If we see Picard do a face-palm to one of the Doctor's antics, this will be the greatest comic ever.
Oh, man. This could be great.
Sorta hope we see Q as well. REALLY curious how the Doctor would interact with him and vice versa.
I'm hoping that Picard at first thinks he's Q or a Q.That said, I also hope that the dialogue doesn't come off as some cheap Q/Picard knockoff and is instead both wholly original and clever.
