Topless Robot will be closed for the rest of day on account of phenomenal, nerdy brilliance by the makers of the Mad cartoon show. The bar has just been raised, every single other department in Warner Bros./DC animation. (Via Nerd Bastards)

Any reason why Cyborg didn't look . . . ummmmm . . . Cyborgy?
That was brilliant. Even with no singing from Kyle Rayner, and the implication that Bart Allen is a Twilight fan (*shudder*), it was very well-done.
The beginning to the sketch is cut off, wherein Batman calls Black Lightning 'Blactricity'. 'Nuff said.
Rob can I just have one request? Pretty please? Never, ever, EVER... Praise the fucking MAD cartoon. I don't wanna go off on a massive rant here... But that show is a goddamn piece of fucking shit. The ONE positive from this fucking skit is that Elongated Man is in it. This show has horrific voice acting, and even more horrific animation. It's a fucking affront to the legacy of MAD magazine, which I hold more reverence for than any other periodical. Cartoon Network is currently running two shows that SODOMIZE the legacies of two of my most cherished properties: Looney Tunes, and MAD. Yet you have praised BOTH shows. MAD has had like, two funny moments over the course of a one year+ run. Your love of One Piece cancels out the fact that you've praised these fucking abortions disguised as TV shows but... God this show is one of the things that REALLY sets me off and now I'm just... Pissed. Yes, I'm a whiny fucking MAD fanboy, but I'll own it.
I don't begrudge you your love of the magazine, but... You are wrong. ♫ Wrongwrongwrongwrongwrong. I was skeptical myself, but the cartoon is actually pretty decent. It's not an "affront" to anything. The mashups are usually worth a chuckle, and sometimes pretty damn inspired. It's all pretty bizarre and can be as hit-or-miss as *literally anything in the world that anyone loves*, but well, your sense of hyperbole is admirable, if nothing else. Kicks the crap out of MADtv at least.
As far as praising this and Looney Tunes, Rob has praised some of the best and most relevant things to his audience that either show has had to offer. Telling someone to lighten up or relax is a bad way to get someone lighten up or relax, but in your case, I'd highly recommend it.
Oh and thanks for complimenting my hyperbole...ing skills. Backhanded compliments are still compliments!
I disagree about the mashups. They tend to be even less funny than the mashups on Robot Chicken. I appreciate the fact that you can present your argument in a calm, respectful manner though. I tend to get a little rant-y about this series. Usually, I'm content to sit and just allow it to exist, but when it gets PRAISED on this site that I love so much... I obviously get very angry. I understand that it's relevant to the audience; I don't appreciate Rob qualifying something as "nerdy" just for mentioning a superhero though (Which is what Looney Tunes did. This MAD skit is pretty nerdy, I'll accede to that). Because by that logic, pretty much everyone and everything ever is nerdy, because people and shows reference superheroes ALL THE TIME. It doesn't make them nerdy.
So... You hate it and consider it an abomination, but apparently have watched every episode and know exactly how many funny moments it has had over the course of over a year?
O-kay.......
Yes, because the fact that I said "2 funny moments" was completely serious, and not at all a hyperbole used to illustrate how painfully unfunny the series as a whole is. I've watched it a fair share of times, because naturally I got excited when it was announced, hoped it would be good, and watched the pilot. I watched it a few more times after that, hoping it would improve. I've seen bits and pieces because I share a room with my brother who has Cartoon Network running at almost all times. I don't even know why I'm defending myself; you can't use something that was clearly hyperbole to try and make me look stupid.
I think he was a background character in Justice League Unlimited, but he never had any lines.
This is win, if only because they used Kyle Rayner, Jay Garrick, Dr. Fate AND Dr. Midnite.
Sorry, Rob, but the related videos list actually topped it: 'Two Broke Powerpuff Girls'. The intro to that one is perhaps the greatest thing MAD has done. The rest was pretty good, but that intro was something else.
How can they represent the Super Friends if there's no appearance by the Wonder Twins or even Marvin, Wendy, and Wonder Dog?
I'm pretty sure he ripped Marvins throat out a few years ago in a Teen Titans comic. Probably counts as automatic disqualification for both.
Woah, They refferenced the late 80s/early 90s Justice League International roster changes (0:43). But wheres Guy Gardner?
We need more Giffen and DeMathis DC projects.
p.s. Super News people, right?
It'd be even better had they swapped out Ralph for Plastic Man, because then we'd have the JLA team that lasted the longest.
I have to say it....Some of those characters were never part of Super Friends.
Also, Superman is a jerk to not lend money. I mean, the Man of Steel can crush coal into diamonds with his hands...he'd never be broke.
Superman understands the potential inflationary effects of his actions, apparently. Must've taken Economics 101 at Kansas State (or whichever university he attended in the most recent backstory)
Normally mad makes me cringe; but I have to admit, this is good.
Still, I wish the Question showed up.
Now we need the "Just Us League" song It can basically complain about the same thing
I like that there are two Flashes (three, with Jay Garrick) and a Kid Flash, and at least two Green Lanterns.
But I did not see Storm...
How can they have Cyborg and all the other b listers and not have Starfire? Otherwise it was perfect.
