i think it should of ended at season 3 simply for the fact that peter sacrificed himself to save both universes.

LOL at: "...assuming SyFy is sill interested in airing sci-fi shows." They could always air it on the Science Channel, since apparently they consider Firefly to be science. Why not Fringe?
It's a shame that Discovery Wings turned into the Military Channel, otherwise they could have aired SWAT Kats.
I dislike how our favorite lab assistant is shoved way over to the left instead of standing where Blair Brown is.Let alone Olivias boss nearly shoved out of the picture.
Well, fingers crossed it works out. I remember last year "Chuck" fans were happy about the final renewal only to turn on the last season with a passion.
YES!
...however, remember: It took Battlestar Galactica just one half season to fuck things up beyond repair. Hell, it actually took them only the two-part finale to fuck things up beyond repair.
this has to be a first for fox given their history with sci fi shows. but thank the tv gods fringe gets one more season . and maybe sydication will wind up producing new interest in fringe.
I watched the first couple of episodes and liked the actors but I remember the show as mostly being people wandering around empty sets where nothing was happening not saying anything, then talking on a cell phone about things the audience wasn't shown, then walking around some more, but from the interest shown here am I hearing that the show is actually worth watching?
I don't recall every feeling the way you did, but it did take me about half the first season until I really got into it. I also feel that they didn't really hit their sweet spot until the second season premier.
Agreed. The show started off in a bit of a "Freak Of The Week" rut (like early seasons of Smallville). Midway thorugh the first season, they were able to do some more with overarching stories and plotlines. It got much better (and I still liked it in the beginning).
The "feeling" I got was that it was just another "teaser series" like Lost or the X-Files where nothing is really about anything just stuff happening that seems like it could be related.
Thank you for reminding me that until the X-Files came around, the "mythology" didn't seem like a term that made sense in a television series. That said, mentioning that old show and Lost, I think quite a few writers and producers seem to have abused the concept "way" too much. Luckily, others have crashed and burned beautifully, like "THE EVENT".
You should start watching around the second half of season 1. that's where the mythology picks up and the story gets bigger.
This makes me very happy. Plenty of time to wrap it up in a nice little package. Let's all just hope that it doesn't turn out they were all dead and in some sort of purgatory the whole time.
A 5-year, 100-episode run is actually possibly the best possible run for a high-concept, heavy-on-mithology show. Much more than that and one risks screwing things up (Hello, X Files?). And the producers knowing that they have one last, shortened season to wrap things up will probably make them focus and deliver a good final act. Looking forward to it...
Especially a show that, at the beginning of its fourth season, says,"Remember these characters you've grown to know and love? Well, they're almost entirely-different people now and it's going to take half-a-season to get them back to even being recognizable." I love FRINGE and am tickled that it's going to be able to have even a shortened fifth season to tie things up, but this season has been a bit of a letdown for me.
I can totally see where you're coming from, but I like the "new" characters. By keeping Peter as his old self, he's able to contrast everyone to their "old" selves. This has allowed for some really good character introspection. Plus, I really like that everyone is interacting with their other selves. Seeing such a different parallel self has forced everyone to take a look and see their own shortcomings and successes. I dig it.
I agree. Its taken me a while to warm up to season 4, I wasn't sure I would but I'm enjoying it again.
". . . assuming SyFy is sill interested in airing sci-fi shows."
Rob, sometimes I just love you. . .
With a peanut-butter bacon sandwich on the side!
(And a heart attack for dessert.)
Couldn't really ask for anything more. One last season to wrap everything up should be fairly satisfying. Plus at five seasons it should be able to end on a high note rather than going out on a frustrating/annoying whimper that would have come from two or three additional seasons. This is good news.
Perhaps the show can live on in syndication, like Baywatch. Which I wouldn't think is bad, but I say that while thinking of that cute red head from the clip Rob posted...a week or two ago, in a swimsuit.
No! I believe it was the alternate-reality's Anna Torv. Though Blair Brown may have a certain "golden aged" beauty, but I'm willfully blind to it, at least when it comes to swimsuits.
