The Lobo Movie Just Got Fragged

Warner Bros. just hired Brad Peyton to rewrite the script for the long rumored Lobo movie, based on the DC comics antihero, and also direct it. Brad Peyton has two directing credits to his name, those being the recently released Journey 2 and Cats and Dog 2: The Revenge of Kitty Galore.

That’s it. Those are the two.

Now, I will not say this precludes a Lobo film actually being good. If you recall, pretty much all director Jon M. Chu had to his name was the Justin Beiber documentary movie, and now G.I. Joe: Retaliation looks awesome. However, just like there was no evidence to suggest Chu was right for the part until the first trailer was released, I am just as skeptical Peyton could possibly do a Lobo movie any sort of justice. What I’m even more concerned about is why WB hired this guy — I know Chu is a huge G.I. Joe fan and pitched Hasbro his idea for the sequel, and that’s how he got the job. Maybe Peyton did the same thing, but I think it’s far more likely that WB wants someone who can turn Lobo into a rollicking adventure for the whole family. Hey, maybe if we’re lucky this’ll stall out like 9 out of every 10 DC superheroes movies do, right? (Via /Film)
